I will ALWAYS stay loyal to LotR........I mean over half my life has been affected by it why lose interest now. Also, there are still so many things I still need to learn about Tolkien's wonderful world!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why would I give up on it now??????????

I know exactly what you mean. I first watched LotR because I wanted to see what this whole craze was about. Now I realize that it isn't such a craze anymore (or at least, not where I live). And it's so much more than just a craze. A lot of people are "Ooh! Fantasy!" or "Ooh! Good movie!" or "Ooh! Orlando Bloom!" I like Lord of the Rings for what it is, a book first, a movie second, and an unbelievable world. I may have wanted to jump on the bandwagon, but now I'm farther away from it.
Yes, I think I'll like LotR all my life. Like someone said, I can't imagine life without it. I can't remember--I can't believe I ever DIDN'T like it! I want to marry someone who likes LotR. I want to introduce my children to LotR. I want to help the legacy go on.

Other. Though I think my loyalty is very strong only Tolkien must say what he believes my loyalty is, not I.

LOTR is one of those things I can't let go... it's too unique, too much a part of me now. And I can't let it go until I've finished all the Middle-earth books!

I voted for the second option... Time will tell.
I am very fond of the Lord of the Rings at the moment, but I have to say that the series is not my main interest. However, I am sure that my love for the Lord of the Rings will not end any time soon.

I'm sure I'll always love LotR, but no longer is it the only thing in my life. I mean, when I started this site, when I first got into it, there was nothing else that could even compare. I wouldn't visit any non-LotR sites, make non-LotR graphics, talk about anything besides LotR, etc. Now I'm not "moving on" FROM LotR, but giving time to other things as well. I guess part of the problem was stupid "friends" and acquaintances who gave me a hard time about being obsessive, and their contempt made me shut up about it for a while. Now I know that I'll always enjoy it, but there are other things that I can enjoy and still be a Ringer.

Exactly. It's like, about 1 year ago I lived LotR. Now there are other priorities, but it is still there. I mean, I know some people who think about their obsessions while they are dancing in one of my competitions. I just think that's crazy. Devoted, but crazy. I promised myself long ago that I would never go that far.

I don't see an end to my loyalty.
Maybe the way I love LotR will change. Maybe I will leave this forum once, maybe I will stop talking and thinking about it everyday... but I will never stop loving it!
I can't imagine how my life was without LotR. And that time is 6 months ago. LotR means so much for me now, I would die without it. And like some of you said: it also helps you in your normal life.

I will always stay loyal to LotR. I have other fandoms too and other things that are important to me, but LotR changed me as a person and I can never forget it.

LotR is a HUGE part of my life. My parents first read it to me as a bed time story in 4th grade and it was so cool. (My brother, the other 4th grade teacher at the time read The Hobbit to his class and I was mad because our teacher didnt read it to us, even though I'd already read it) Even though sometimes its hard to remember parts of the book(s) because of the movies, the books are first and foremost and the movies second. i LOVE it.
in case you wanted to know, my room is painted as Moria with a really cool door on the outside--- durin's door is painted on the outside with the same color as the wall, but with flourescent paint that shows up under a blacklight only. the blacklight is mounted on the opposite wall.

I think that with the absence of a new move every December, we will see more pronounced differences between the people who like LOTR and the people who LOVE LOTR. As for myself, I've been 100% loyal for four years now, and I cannot see that loyalty ever fading.

I think that LOTR will always be a huge part of my life, I mean, I can't remember not loving it, I read it in the beginning of 3rd grade and 7 times since. I have the posters, books, movies, cards etc. in my room so i'm exposed to it every day, and I can't remember my bedroom without it. I can spout off every random fact you ever wanted to know from memory, so its a constant part of my day.
Even so, the interest was beginning to fade a little, with Eragon jumping in, etc. Then last month I went to Houston Texas and saw the LOTR Trilogy Exhibit twice(4.5 hours each time!) it was such an experience-it made me remember what it was like to see the movies for the first time- that I became sure that whatever else happens, I'm a ringer for life.
And then there's The Hobbit(PJ, don't let me down)!!!
(P.S. Arwen the webmaster; if you ever want to shut this site down, I'll buy it.I have learned from the demise of ninecompanions.net)
