So... what about a new topic then? Something we didn't already discuss... suggestions?

I'd like to breathe a little air into the club, of course - but in a different topic...
How does the writing of the feature films compare with the LOTR?
Several scenes from the epic were cut out of the film, that might have made Eowyn even more believable. A further explanation of Faramir's romance; and a better job done of Eowyn's despair at being let down by Aragorn.
The way it was, yuo had to have read the epic all the way through, to understand what was left out of the film. If you saw the movie before the book, you couldn't understand the full meaning of Eoywn's loss, and gain.

You're absolutely right. I think they've cut out too much of Eowyn's story in the film. I mean, she didn't only go to war because of her people, she also goes because of Aragorn, and you don't really see that. And the good relationship between her and Eomer that you see in TTT seem to disappear in RotK, cause you don't get to see Eomer's reaction when he thinks she's dead. So, yeah, it's kind of a loss really, at least for those who only see the film and don't read the book. In the EE they show it all, though, which is good

Gasp! I haven't posted in here for ages and now the Eowyn Club died! *falls down shocked, can't move* Sorry!
Indeed, they let important parts of Eowyn's story drop out in the general movie, but at least some of them are on the SEEs! For god's sake! I missed the relationship between Eowyn and Eomer in RotK, and the healing somehow came all of a sudden when she fell in love with Faramir... and it isn't even seen in the normal edition! I was really sad because of that!

[wow, I think I'm a part of this club ]
And in the normal edition, she and Faramir are suddenly... together at Aragorn's coronation, which bugged me because there was no explanation of why.

Well, if you read the book before the movie, then you'll know the explantion.

Well, the first time I saw the movie... I hadn't read the books.
But the 2nd through [I think I'm on my 11th time] I had read the books.

I'd like to join! And I agree on the more-scenes-with-Eowyn-in-RotK thing! Though I havn't read the books! I'm only half way through FotR!

Of course, I will add you, Eruraina!
Well, halfway through FotR, then there still are the best scenes you can look forward to!
Yup, Eowyn is awesome! Somehow I'm totally into female characters who stand up for themselves and are strong persons, fight for those they love.

Well, as for book vs. movie, I am quite disappointed that they left out so much. My firends who liked the movie never got the whole Eowyn-Faramir thing, and they actually didn't get the whole Eowyn thing either. Her character wasn't really that developed. Unless you know what's going on with her, you can't tell what's going on with her.
I'll give credit where credit is due. There was a limited time, and with what he had, PJ did a good job. I just wish there had been more time.
So yeah, I've heard lots of nasty comments from friends about Eowyn because they only saw the movie, and therefore it seemed that her only purpose was to create a love triangle for Aragorn and then to steal Faramir from his fangirls.
