Ohhh it makes a lot of sense Star Gazer. I always associate people (online) with their names so the better I get to know them, the more their name expands to contain their personality... sort of...ish...
I like picking a couple of characteristics, either physical or skills, special talents etc. and then finding a name that symbolizes/translates/relates to those characteristics... e.g. from Behind The Name.

My names are often subconsciously related to people or names I know in real life. Merrin is my best friend's name with an M at the beginning and an extra R, Nakaida I thought was original until I discovered the composer of my new piano piece was Yoshinao Nakada, Phantom Grey I actually got inspiration for from the color of my uncle's new car...the only name of a character that I think I can safely claim is completely of my own creation is Eledhe. I also have a new character in the works whose name is basically a couple types of gem manipulated to sound like names
Aerandir wrote: Fantastic name-making skills, LDM Is that how you came up with Kendath?
I believe Kendath was a typo of Rendath Though how she came up with that I don't know.
I've also used www.geocities.com/fantasynames, but they don't have a huge selection. It's where I got and manipulated Silvryn, Rhaeryn, and Seryl. Names tend to be quite important to me because they can totally decide the character's personality. If Merrin had been, say, a Nakaida, her personality would have been totally different. So it's good she's a Merrin It's weird, I know.
adsoifu
How do you make a name out of THAT? I don't know if my letter-blobs are very inspired...
poiugffd
Nope.

I read the RPG, SG, but I doubt I'll join at this time--I'm having trouble finding the time to post in my current ones.
As for the weird naming style....let's see what happens when I try.
coivle
Coifle
Caifle
Caefle
Caef. <--that's okay. That's passable. However, I'll take it one more.
Caef(a/e)n<--That's even better.

I've done a name or two like that, but I prefer modifying names from books or real life.
Aerandir, is 'Aftermath' dead? Because it would be a shame if it was ... it's prob now the longest running RP on the forum still has plenty of potential

Same here, Valera.
I'm pretty sure that it is still the longest-running RPG on the forum, but while I've still got ideas for it in the long run, I'm running out of stuff for the short term. Feel free to do whatever you want to enhance the plot. I think it could use some more of your help.

Hmm.. I'm not sure what the RP is about, but perhaps you could open it to new characters or invite people.
If you open it for new people to join, you might get some new action (and usually people drop out fast when school or RL catch up, so you wont have to worry about too many new characters!) OR you could invite special guest star appearances. Ask people to make up a character to start/participate in a sub-plot, and so they could leave the RP again afterwards. That way you get some fresh blood and new ideas and the people you ask - who might already be busy with other RP's - only have to commit a limited time to this!

The RPG is a Star Wars one, Eä, and it's in trouble mostly because I've burnt out a lot of my plot ideas on other things, and am running out of ones to keep the plot going on a short-term basis. It'd be difficult for anyone else to join right now, though.
Valera, thanks for posting--I'll reply to that asap.
Captain Faramir, you want a list of all the running RPGs? Why not just go through the ones on the first and second pages--those are basically the only ones that could be considered consistent.

Try Raven's RP directory, Captain Faramir. I don't know when it was last updated but it should get you started.
Eheh, you could be entirely right, Ea I resolve to post more.
SO.
Random question of the day: What kind of character are you best at? Mine tend to be female and it varies from there. Though I would have to say I think I'm best at playing the naive/inexperienced ones, and I can't do witty or extremely intelligent characters - because then I have to be as smart as they are

Oy. I haven't posted here in centuries.

I'm also better at females since I am one, but I think I could handle playing a male if I tried. I'm not that great at canon characters, so I tend to always make up an OC, which lands me in the position of trying not to make her a Mary-Sue.
