Ok, I only stopped in for a moment today and saw this thread... so I posted to the other moddies to see what they think, too... but know that I'm hoping to be back in about 4 weeks -crosses fingers- when life settles down, all relatives are up and back healthy again, and work finally relaxes too. ahem...back on topic... I am more than willing to help with the ball again, if you'd all like that is. I will be around soon enough to help with banners, announcements, stickying threads, helping with contests, or whatever again... so just let me know. I love the idea of a Hobbiton-theme. As to the schedule problem, would it be too hard to have a kick-off summertime event at the beginning of summer (your long one) and then a shorter bash at the end of summer, as fall's creeping in? That way, hopefully those who couldn't make it to one 'cause of vacations etc. might make it!

You know, the Hobbiton theme would work wonderfully too as part of our summertime fun, esp. if we mods can pull off another Tolkien Revival 2007 this year, which we're hoping to do.

Yeah, we should have one that's maybe more like a party [the Hobbiton themed one perhaps], and then a refined ball with the long, elegant dances, punch bowl, dance floor, etc. I'm such a sucker for elegant balls.

I think the ball gowns would be for the late summer/early fall ball. (Great idea, to have two balls! ) And I like that idea. Totally a sucker for elegant balls too...as long as goofing off is permitted sometimes!



That's actually what I was thinking about when I thought of it! I really do think a Shire theme would be awesome. We could have stuff going at the swimming hole for water games...the party tree for party-ish greetings and a center of activity...Bag End for general discussion...so many things!

Swimming hole? Where!?! *looks around* Sounds fun, though I wouldn't want to get a ball gown messed up from that water! For the games though, am I not remembering but isn't there a stream call "The Water" that runs through Hobbiton, dividing it from Bywater?
