Apologies to all those who I RP with, though--I got into a big argument with my dad two Fridays ago (right after my last post in this topic) and the end result was me being grounded. He just relented today. Soooo....I don't think I'll be able to post in all of the topics today, but I'll be trying, so expect me to be caught up and posting before too much longer. LDM and Melda. You posted five pages w/o me in Star Crystal. I feel....like I'm going to possibly have a hard time working Adanil back in. But hey, that's what makes RPGs interesting. Interesting new contest, LDM. Perhaps I shall make an 'intro post' for my Kaderis idea.
You underestimate us if you don't think that every time we came on A-U we whizzed off anxiously to see if you had finally posted Rest assured, your absence was QUITE noticed
Was it really five pages? Dear dear. And a whole page of that was hopelessly romantic. I would apologize, but I had so much fun doing it that I think it would be rather insincere Anyway, welcome back, and if you EVER leave again I promise you no matter where you live I am coming after you with a chain saw. So there.

Besides, we were just trying to get the *cough* part over with so you could jump in. pirateoftherings wrote: Little subtleties like that really make a world of difference for me, though maybe that's just my OCD showing through.
Or some people get the dialogue and not the little details. I also feel like one's plot contribution should correspond with one's character. For example, the calculating mage deserves more of a leadership position than the meek guy who just follows along. With canon characters especially, some characters are just going to have a larger role which requires longer posts and more plot input.

Stop stealing my chainsaw! *snatches back and glowers* I need it to make sure Aerandir (aka A Reindeer) never leaves us again. *Hides it behind back*
Can we come up with a replacement for *cough* lol?

*pulls chainsaw plug out of wall* Hah. Now thine chainsaw has no power. What now, eh?
A Reindeer. Wow. That is....scary, LDM, though you did tell me that was how you pronounced it, a while ago. <_< I'm not going to correct you--if that's how you recognise me.....*dies*
LDM, if you're liable to hurt someone before Melda gave you the chainsaw, why would we trust you, The Violent One, with the chainsaw?
I am satisfied. It is evident that I was missed, though apparently y'all thought it was best to....not mention it earlier? o_O
*cooks up winning RPG post o' the Month*

^The way I understand it, we write our own opening post for an RP, using our own character. Just like we had started an RP, and were starting it off.
I haven't really thought about if I change my RP wording to match my character. I probably do somewhat, but it's a sort of subconcious thing. I could probably do more if I thought more about it. lol
I try to be careful with my wording, too.

^correct.
Melda, I beg to differ. The Chainsaw of Doom happens to be MY signature weapon, not yours. Life isn't fair. Live with it.
What I mean by wording is, with me, trying to reserve the use of irony, poetic sentences, words like "quite" and "rather," sentence fragments, etc. to suit the mood of different characters. Take a look at these three sentences.
1. The weather was quite acceptable as well, with azure skies and streaks of clouds like so many dust bunnies in a sea of innocence.
2. Magnificent rays of sunlight shafted through the clouds, gilding the verdant ground in gold and striping the trees in ardent warmth.
3. The sun was scorching even through the cloud cover, and the general fairness of the weather did little to improve his mood.
I have just painted the same scene with three different perspectives.
1. The eternal optimist.
2. Our dear friend Legolas.
3. A guy seriously in need of antidepressants.

That's pretty funny, actually.
The last one made me laugh.

*Stifled giggles* That guy seriously in need of antidepressants wouldn't happen to be a certain K word we all know? (Not kiss.) Lovely explanation, though, 'twas quite enlightening.
Hey, I can use a chainsaw if I feel like it!
So, could we write an opening post for an RPG that's already been up for a while? Like, as an alternate one? Or does it have to be new?

Funnily enough, I was thinking of him when I wrote that. And no, the post/rpg doesn't have to be new.

"Like so many dust bunnies..." lol!
That'd make another good contest-we'd have to write the same RP post or scene from several different perspectives.

Rotary saws beat chainsaws any day.
LDM, if you are playing two charries in the RP, can the first post be from both charries? And should we post them here or PM them to you?
I've never really thought about whether or not I word things differently depending on POV - although I think I do. Maybe not to the extreme that LDM exemplified, but I just tend to sit inside my charrie's head when I write her/his posts, and whatever comes out, comes out. I might be more conscious of it if I had more time.

I have no clue whether or not I really alter my word choice according to my characters personalities. I do a little bit at least, but I have no clue how big of a difference it seems to the rest of you.
And just you know, it's lightsabers and katanas ftw.

Agreed. Well, and shotos and lightwhips, but those both technically fall under the category of "lightsaber."
