OOH OOH!!! *waves hand frantically in the air* Will and Elizabeth from POTC. When they're fighting in a battle or something it's like they know what each other's going to do before they do it. (this mostly comes into play in At World's End) And they stick together, no matter what. Even when they're arguing you can tell they want nothing more than to make it up.
Edit: And their kid is *almost* as adorable as Darry. haha

I think Rose & Jack from Titanic. Jack really loves Rose for herself and not for her money and Rose loves Jack because he listens to her and dosen't scoff at her dream.

@Ánië Súrion: Yep, you're right. I haven't seen PotC3 yet, but I think you already feel this in the first two movies. I really must see this movie very, very soon...
@Ashwise: Yeah, you're right. How could I forget about the two.
Well, I think partly this also refers to Padme and Anakin from Star Wars. I mean, at least in the first two movies. The two really love each other and completely trust in each other and Anakin is willing to do everything to save Padme (even against Obi Wan's wishes and the laws of the Jedi), which finally leads to his very sad ending. I think until he turns into Darth Vader, they're such a special couple as well...

Well, I've just read "The Tale of Aragorn and Arwen" for the 50,000th time, and here's something regarding the "mind-melding":
"...Arwen remained in Rivendell, and when Aragorn was abroad, from afar she watched over him in thought..." (p 1036)
That's all I could come up with, but still, it's something.
(And I also have a quote I made up: "Mind-melding: all the best couples do it." lol)

Thanks so much for the info, Ánië! That's indeed a proof for "mind-melding" in the books. So PJ just adapted Tolkien's idea.
I really need to reread LotR this summer.
And great quote. You're completely right.

Mind-melding? What dose that mean?

Ashwise wrote: Mind-melding? What dose that mean?
It's a term invented by the brilliant Mr. Astin (actually describing what happened when his daughter's eyes met Elijah Wood's huge blue ones for the first time, but that's somewhat irrelevant in this case) that I've adapted to suit Aragorn and Arwen's mental connection. You know how they met in a dream in TTT, and how Aragorn seemed to know what Arwen's banner was in ROTK the book? That connection over impossible distances is my definition of mind-melding. Now that I think about it, it's actually quite similar to some twins' supposed mental connection.
Or for another example, take Will and Elizabeth from POTC. They seemed to know what the other was going to do in the big battle during the whirlpool instinctively, and in a way they were fighting as a single unit. Thus, mind-melding. Does that at all make sense?

Very good explanation, Ánië!
I haven't thought about the mental connection between twins before, but you're right that this would be some kind of mind-melding as well.
I still haven't seen AWE yet , so I can't comment on that, but I think you can also take the Jedi-knights from Star Wars as an example. Whenever the fight together, they form such a unity to defeat their enemies as well.
Btw: I just wanted to let you know that I've written an Arwen & Aragorn fan fic. So, if you wish to read it, go here:

I've left a review of your story - I really liked it!
And thanks. It just occured to me that perhaps Elladan and Elrohir would have that same sort of connection...
Oh sorry. I don't mean to keep using stuff from AWE as examples. But the Jedi-knights are a good example too, and also Eragon and Saphira from the book Eragon.

Thanks for your review. I'm glad that you like the story.
Yes, I think you're right with Elladan and Elrohir. I think all Elves have such connections. Just think of Galadriel in FotR when Frodo could hear her voice in his head when he entered Lothlorien. It must be cool to have such abilities.
And don't worry about the AWE examples. They are totally okay. I just haven't seen the movie yet (but I really love PotC as well and definitely want to see it), as my PotC-obsessed friend didn't have time to go to the cinema together with me, so I had to look for other examples to contribute to the discussion...

This is off-topic, but I MUST say it.
So I was watching Dead Man's Chest yesterday, for only the second time ever, and I got to the scene where Lizzie's dad breaks her out of jail. She says "No, I have to wait for Will!" and he starts arguing that she can't trust Will. I don't remember exactly how it came about, but the long and short of it is that Governer Swann ends up saying "Then there is nothing for you here." Ringing any bells? I was like when I heard it; completely freaked out.

Yes, I agree. I didn't think about this before, as I have seen DMC only once in the cinema last summer, but now I remember this scene and you're completely right.
Btw: Nice Willabeth story that you've posted in the Fanfic Section. I really enjoyed reading it.

Thanks. I can find parallels between stuff ANYWHERE, I guarantee you. I was watching The Lion King last weekend and acting like a five-year-old, and suddenly while "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" was playing I was like "AAH!!! This is like Aragorn and Arwen!!!"
I am thinking I need help... lol
(Thanks again for reading it! )

^For me it's the same as well very often. I simply LOVE interpreting and relating things, which has been quite valuable in school.
Well, I can only agree that "Can you feel the love tonight" reminds me of Arwen & Aragorn as well. It's the same for me with "My Heart Will Go On" from Titanic. It fits so well for the two.
Okay, I've thought about a new topic:
Can you actually imagine Arwen going with Aragorn and fighting together with him like it was originally planned by PJ, or would that be absolutely no option for you?

(Oh good, I'm not alone in my obsessive finding of common elements! )
Hm. I personally don't think the whole "warrior princess" thing works with Arwen's character - she's supposed to represent love, as PJ said, and to me it isn't a very good representation of love if that character goes out and starts whacking Orcs' heads off. But seriously, we already have a warrior princess in the movies: Eowyn. As much as I love Arwen, I know she's not the type of character to fight. It really works much better as it is: with her on the sidelines, so to speak, keeping Aragorn strong through her love and support. Some people just don't see that being a behind-the-scenes method of support takes just as much strength as actually going out to fight, which is why Arwen's called "weak" and "sissy" so much. I mean, she didn't have an easy choice...
Sorry. Am now stepping down off soapbox.

I completely agree with you again, Ánië! I think PJ's decision to represent Arwen as the loving behind-the-scenes-supporter of Aragorn was completely right. I mean, Elves are good and brave fighters, but I could neither imagine her nor Galadriel as sword-wielding figures in a battle. I also agree with you concerning the weight of her choice and the difficulty of motivating Aragorn.
A few weeks ago I found a dialogue from one of those scenes in which Arwen should actually appear as a warrior princess on the net. It stressed her worries about Aragorn and her fears and partly underlined her character in this way, but on the other hand I also thought this couldn't be her. It partly inspired by fan fic about the two, as it made me think about the situation that should have been presented in this scene, but while writing my story, I came to think that Arwen could never be a warrior and decided to model her role more on PJ's ideas again...
I'll search for the script again and post it here as soon as I'll find it...
