Well, in Series Two, I immediately suspected him. Especially after the, “It’s a good thing I’m not one of Them, huh?” scene. But there was something very awesome in him that made me began to sympathize with the others: even Goodwin and whatshisface that Charlie murdered. Wasn’t it Edmund or something?
But ME brought this sort of sympathy thing in with him, especially when Sayid tortured him. It wasn’t like when Sawyer got tortured, it was much worse... because ME had this horrible fear in his eyes the whole time Sayid was beating him that just sent the emotion level skyrocketing. And that’s when I knew how bloody brilliant Emerson was, because it takes some real genious to provoke an audience to that kind of emotion.
I was watching Behind the Scenes of LOST last night, and one of the directors called ME a Stradivarius among violins. That is a very awesome comparison in my opinion, because he IS the best, the finest. You just can’t find much better acting than that... it’s a wonder Hollywood hasn’t gone crazy over who gets him after Lost is done with him.
Here is a scene I found from the torture part, although thankfully for our sake it includes only verbal abuse. Now just closely watch ME’s face [not like I need to tell you that since you’ll be doing it already, haha]... see the EMOTION there?! Like, good grief, how does the man show himself through his face so well?! It’s AMAZING!

I salute Ben right along with you: he’s a courageous guy.

I think it was because he played the part of a genuinely terrified and believably un-Other person that I thought he was a "good guy". Even when he was listening to Locke and Jack's arguments and using those to manipulate Locke, I just thought we had a very clever man who just wanted to escape. Yes, I liked both Goodwin and Ethan. Goodwin more so as he doesn't seemed to have hury anyone and he told Ben that there was some good in Ana-Lucia and he could change her....and then she kills him for no reason...good one Ana...
Yes, I have just a watched that clip and I know what you mean. The fear in his eyes and his face is amazing - why shouldn't we believe this guy was innocent with that fear being shown? Lol, I was watching closely. That was AMAZING. I need to see series 2 again. It wouldn't bother me if Ben ever met up with Sayid and knocked the hell out of him - just imagine if he really had been Henry Gale? How could they have lived on the same island together? I wonder if that fear was acted out by Ben - he must have known he would get tortured or beat up at some point. Personally I think it was, if he was being himself, I don't think Ben would have acted like that.
Wow, that is a compliment. I don't know about you, but I think people do seem to be talking about Ben/Michael a lot when they mention good characters and strong performances. Like his character Ben, who steals every scene he is in, I think Michael is slowly getting all the praise passed onto him. Which is great.
EDIT: Here is an interview with M.E. It does contain spoiler talk...sort of...but it also has a few bits about him as well.

Eeps! I can't believe I let this wonnerful club sink into the depths of the fourth page... that's just sad. *shakes head sadly* I "liek srsly" need to keep on my toes in the club section.
First off... GASP! He says, "It'll be earth-shattering WHEN they start delving in Ben's backstory." WHEN! He said WHEN precious! That means they WILL! Oh yayayayayaayyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyy! I can't wait to see Benry flashbacks, that is going to be THE BOMB! That is going to be the awesomest thing since sliced bread! It's going to be ... ... one small step for Lost, one giant leap for fangirlism.
Aww, a non-Lost life. XD He's such a darling, liking to spend time with his family and all. About the high school reunion - heh, yeah it's safe to say he'd take the cake there, wear the party hat, BE the party actually. It's almost sad for him though, like all actors, because people start being obsessed with their fame and don't really care about who they are as a person anymore. And I'm sure, removing his acting skills, Michael is one heck of a person.
Aye, every magazine that has Lost in it usually has a picture of one of the Losties - and Michael. I think no one can get over his incredible acting, wether they hate or love his charrie.
Thanks for sharing the interview by the way!

ZOMG.
It's another person! I feel like a person alone on an island [haha] whose just seen another survivor. Welcome aboard me hearty!
i LURVE Ben on Lost too, but I've grown to love the actor as well. *points to JF* blame her. You can't just hang around that enthusiastic of a fangirl for very long without getting a bit fangirl-ish yerself. XD
Sooo- favorite Benry scene?

Cool thanks. Favorite scene is definitely the all time famous scene... "If I was one of the others...(blah blah blah) got any milk?" Genius.

I am oh-so-so totally reviving this club. =]
A few days ago my best friend and I were amiably discussing Michael Emerson; and being the darling she is, she pointed out to me that he has a few of his own fansites now!

Yeah, tis insane, if I was a 40-year-old man I'd be so green with envy.
Oh, and I found the cutest picture on one of his sites the other day. I squealed and swooned and drooled all at once. lieksrsly.

Breathe! Wow.
I'm sorry to say I don't share quite your enthusiasm, but I agree. He doesn't look anywhere near 53.

Oh, I think Matthew Fox looks younger, but Mikey there has sort of an undefinable age. Some people just look exactly how old they are, but you can't really tell with Michael.
