I like the Valar paintings by Daniel Govar (wonderful art!) though sadly not all of his art is available on non-Flash sites where you can right-click and save... All of his art, like his Ancalagon and Gandalf the White and the Grey and Saruman and everything is just great, in my opinion, but you have to go to http://www.thereandbackagain.net in order to see most of the art (just click on different characters' profiles).
A non-Flash site with some of his Tolkien art is http://fan.theonering.net/middleearthtours/govar.html; here's a sample:

Yeah, I've got a certain way I picture the Valar. Human, but their hair and their clothes and their limbs seem to swirl off and fade. I wish I could paint...
Love those depictions, though!

Those where very well done, bc I think its very hard to capture a Vala in a picture. Varda was also my favorite; she looked so beautiful and mysterious. And I loved all of the stars behind her, that was great.

Yes, Varda was done beautifully, considering how hard it is to draw the Valar.

I didn't like the one of Yavanna very much. She looks like a wild animal. I pictured her more noble and tree-like. And definitely with brown hair, not blonde.

I think it is really hard to draw the Valar, because everybody has a different imagination of them and they're like nothing we know. I definitely imagined them to look different, especially Yvanna, but that guy/girl definitely can paint very well.

Varda was done fairly well, I thought, though not quite how I imagine her.
As for the rest, I don't think the paintings are very good at all. Manwe and Orome look skinny and very human, Ulmo just looks....completely not like how I imagine him, and Morgoth doesn't look right (it's the face). He looks like a cross between a Minotaur and an Orc in that picture....which isn't how I think of him.

They all look a little too human, and the Valier's distinct lack of clothing is pretty annoying.

Orome needs a more handsome face and Varda needs more clothes and a more pure look; otherwise, I like them.
The others were stunningly well-painted, but, well, disapointing as valar! =(

... remembering of course that the Valar didn't think like we do, and would definitely think differently of decency. They could walk unclad if they so desired, remember? It's not like they are humans dressing that way.
I like only the Varda one
