Then, you should get people who are really into the RP, AE.

Villains? *evil laugh* I only rp villains!... nah, truth be told I am quite balanced on that in a way, I like villains that still retain some morals decency(or well...) or anti-villains. Yet I still do rp some good chars... eh... Edwin at least, probably the most good guy I have ever rped... :D

Geezus I really ought to play more good guys....

I realized I need to play more nice, innocent, Merrin-ish people. I'll try the next rpg that comes around.

CANON RPG CONTEST
Submit your idea(s) for an rpg in a canon setting (LotR, PotC, HP, SW, etc.). Include any information you would have in the introduction (setting, plot teaser, optional character slots), excluding any in-character posts. PM questions and entries to me.

Deadline - August 18

lol my characters have mostly been in the gray area. No characters of the utmost evil... well I suppose Zero is one of my baddest baddie, and Pyro - as ironic as it is- in my own RPG is the best one im playing... mostly they were mercenaries, without allegiance, highest bidder wins kind of character...other than that, it's sarcastic, annoyingly happy type of character.

Most of mine know have some sort of high ego, which I am finding quite enjoyable.

Interesting RPG of the month, LDM. Hmm.. a canon storyline. You want like what would start the RPG(the first post)?

Hm... well, I play in very few complete canon character rpg's... I think it's easier to make my own character than to play one thats from a movie or something unless I know them like... really really really well (like how smeag know Merry&Pippin, and Pippin know Jack Sparrow)

I believe that also.. that it is easier to play a non-canon character because you can mess up on a canon where you can't mess up on your own character.

I'm not that good at cannon charries- I haven't had much practice. Unless I can come up with a good plot, I probably won't enter this contest. lol

I agree it is easier to mess up with cannon charries, but I think you can mess up OCs as well. This is the writer in me coming out. lol If you're character has a fairly well-established personality and have that person do something that doesn't fit with their personality, you could mess up there. Example- (I'm making up a character, since right now my tired brain can't think of a good existing charrie to use as an example.) If I had a character that is very calculating and calm, who always weighs the risks and hesitates to jump into anything, it would be out-of-character for that person to suddenly decide to do something extremely dangerous.

Sometimes I think it's ok to do things like that, as long as the action or whatever isn't too much of a deviation from the established personality, and/or if you explain why they made that decision.

But anyway. lol I just realized I need to start getting ready for bed!

The only cannon character I've played was Elizabeth for a PotC RP... I always use OC's...

Yes, cannon charries are easy to mess up, you have to be pretty good at them to make them believable. I guess that means studying their behavior and watching closely so you can imitate it. :D

But once you understand them, you should be able to RP them. They just involve a second thinking over, and practice.

Nice point. As soon as any character, canon or original, starts to get annoying and screw up the plot, then you've officially butchered that character (as potr puts it).

all right new topic: do you have any songs/lyrics that fit a particular character?

well, for the music/lyrics one... I'd say the only one I can think of would be "Still Standing" by the Rasmus for my character Rena in Flight of the Chosen. Especially the beginning... 'cause she's like only 13 and misses her mom, and she's been through alot as such a young age... and that she's 'still standing' after all that stuff.

Hm... and them maybe "Beautiful Mess" by diamond rio for Rain in Fight for a New Era...

*Grins*

I do happen to have a couple of songs :) For Merrin, unsurprisingly. To an extent, Keep Holding On by Avril Lavigne and Who I Am by Jessica Andrews, but Hear Me by Kelly Clarkson fits better. And the lyrics of Push Me Away by Kutless fit her pretty well, even though it's a boy band.

And I have been reminded that there's a certain amusing picture I took in Costa Rica that I really should share: http://i19.tinypic.com/5403mn7.jpg

My friends all thought I was bizarre but I didn't really care :)
