Yeah, same here with Harry Potter...so, about the romance in the movies...is it...strong, if you know what I mean? Like, more than Aragorn and Arwen?

And what about the violence? Can you compare it to lotr?

the romance in PotC.... well, overall PotC isn't meant to be too romantic. hmmm, Willabeth may be considered a tiny bit more romantic than Aragorn/Arwen but I don't think it's much more.... basically they're both the same kind of romance... long distant. Because in AWE Will and Liz are upset/confused about/with each other (if that makes sense) so they don't really talk much, in DMC and a lot of CotBP (actually in Curse they only have like three scenes together...) they aren't with each other a whole lot... so they don't really see each other often. They have one slightly iffy scene (depending on how you look at it) at the end of At World's End where they're on the beach of an island right before Will has to leave (I won't tell you why because that would spoil everything) and in that scene it does kinda suppose some things (if you get what I mean) and it shows how they had a child in the end but it doesn't show anything and it's not really bad in any way (hopefully I explained that good...). Anyway, Willabeth is just about like Aragorn/Arwen... everyone agree? Anie, Melda?

The violence? hm, yeah it's about equal to the violence in LotR... if I may I might actually say in CotBP there is less violence than in FotR, DMC is about equal to TTT and RotK and AWE are about the same. in no way would I say PotC has more violence than LotR.

All he'd have to do is look at you and you'd just about die. :teehee: although that might not work with guys like it does with girls. ;) aye, it tis! And it IS sooooo romantic!!!! Ohmygosh!!! TOTALLY. Gosh, every time I see those eyes I pretty much melt into a puddle of goo. My cousin and I have a sort of ritual where whenever we watch CotBP we randomly go "PUPPY-DOG!" in scenes where he goes all...brown-eyed...heh.

*Thinks* I dunno. I suppose it is in that both Aragorn and Will think they're not good enough for Arwen/Elizabeth - Aragorn because he's mortal and Will because his social status isn't high enough. In that sense, yes. Somehow I wouldn't call them overtly alike, but yes, there are definitely similarities.

As for violence, I actually think PotC is in some ways scarier than LotR. I do find skeleton pirates scarier than orcs, though I don't think I would call DMC/AWE scarier than LotR.

well, yeah, that's kinda what I meant about the Aragorn/Arwen and Will/Lizzie relationships being the same... they are similar but they aren't.

really? hm, guess it's just a difference in opinion. *shrugs* I always thought of the skeletal pirates as being more goofy and silly than scary... I mean how can you take Pintel and Ragetti seriously? ;) and orcs, trolls, and Nazgul were more serious and really truly evil. Actually most of the villains in PotC (other than Lord Beckett) have tragic backgrounds where you see they are more than just monsters and you feel sorry for them... the "bad guys" in LotR however for the most part (although the Ringwraiths have a tragic past) are solely evil.....

Like Melda said, there are definite similarities between A/A and W/E, most notably between Aragorn and Will. I think that A/A is a bit more like the "true love" everybody wants to find someday: they're completely comfortable, trust each other implicitly, will wait for each other forever, etc. Willabeth is slightly more realistic: yeah, they got their happily-ever-after, but not until after they'd worked through a lot of problems. You notice how you don't really see Aragorn and Arwen fight all that much? (except in the TTT EE scene "it was a gift, keep it") Will and Elizabeth are both very strong-willed people and so they fought more, just like real couples do. Probably Willabeth is easier to relate to, while A/A is the sort of romance that all girls (and maybe some guys) fantasize about.
...and Ánië is a rambler. :P In fact, I'm not even sure that's the answer you wanted, PD, but oh well. :teehee:

I know exactly what you mean! His mother must've had a tough time of it, if he ever did anything wrong... ;) I don't know, I think some girls are really good at the puppy-dog eyes too...not me though. :eyeroll: (My best guy friend has brown eyes and he's learned to do the puppy-dog look...beware, it's a lethal weapon! :P)

 That's funny! I do that sometimes. One of my fellow Orli-loving friends thinks I'm insane because I insist that he does really good puppy-dog eyes. :D

Edit: Aww, Rags is adorable! And Pinters is funny. Though I agree, they're not the most serious characters. ;)

that's a fine answer, Anie! Either way I think Allonde has got the point. ;)
Anyway, what you said is totally true! Aragorn and Arwen were very ideal... compared to Willabeth at least. ;) Sure, they had their fair share of problems just like Will and Elizabeth but their problems were different... Will and Liz face problems with each other. Not the world around them (so much). And when you phrase it like that I do have to admit I think I like the more real relationship Will and Lizzie have. it shows that they struggled but they pulled through and still loved each other.... not saying A/A didn't or their love wasn't as strong but I think you guys understand. :)

lol ah, I'm sure it was easy for her... Will never did anything wrong. ;) (right! :P sorry, Will but I'm sure you were like any other young boy... :teehee:) true... don't feel bad... I'm fairly good at making my eyes bigger (sorta like what Jack and Will do when they're communicating) but I can't do the puppy-dog eyes. :erm: (good luck with that! :-D)

 Um, somehow I'm doubting that, but nice try. :P If nothing else he probably broke something every now and then, remember the candlestick in CotBP? ;) Oh good, we're equally "disabled" then! :P (Thanks. I was dumb enough to tell him he was good at puppy-dog eyes too... :erm:  :duh:)

well, it was fun to read. :P Oh, yes I've had words pop out of me too... but never sounding (I think) as good as that. ;) I have the same problem... for things I WANT to write I enjoy doing it and I think I'm pretty good at it. :P have you ever gotten the "choose your own topic" assignments? lol yeah, it was... but I'm sure our poor Will wasn't a perfect angel ALL the time. ;) Oh, my goodness! :duh: NOT the candlesticks!!! lol that scene is so embarrassing to watch (for Will's sake)... he's such a dork! :teehee: (in a good way though) aye, I guess we are. ;) (poor, poor Anie! I guess you'll just have to "suffer" through it now :P)

so, everyone, do you guys think if Will (or Lizzie) had really died Liz (or Will) would've ever fallen in love or married again? (we had this question on the A/A club and I thought it would be interesting to apply it to Willabeth too. :P)

I don't think Will ever would have. Elizabeth *might* have, especially with Norrington in the picture - I always think that he's just a smidge more smitten with her than she is with him. Just a smidge. It's what makes him so cute.

Scene with the candlesticks = scene with puppy-dog eyes = LOVE. Randomly, has anybody read Worthy of His Steel by Honorat on fanfiction.net? AWESOME Will fanfic. You MUST.

No, somehow I doubt it. ;) Aww, I think it's sort of a cute scene...it shows the viewers exactly who this Mr. Turner is. And many people (including myself :P) can relate to his clumsiness, and his lovesickness. (Haha, thanks. It's my own fault, really, but I appreciate your sympathy. :))

I agree with Melda, Will would never under any circumstances fall in love with someone as deeply as he loved Elizabeth. (That's why Will/OC fics frustrate me so much... :yuck:) But Lizzie...well, maybe if Norrie had survived, she would've married him for convenience if nothing else. :erm:

hm, really? I totally agree with you on the Elizabeth with Norrie one. he may have loved her more than she loved him but I think she could've been fairly happy with him (the poor guy needed someone!) aye, I love how you said that "It's what makes him so cute". :P
but on the Will marrying another girl subject I'm not so sure... for sure he could never ever love her as much as Lizzie (but could Liz really love Norrie as much as she loved Will?) but I might be able to see him marrying another girl after some time. but that's only me.... (and I definatly wouldn't go pairing him off with any old girl... she would have to be extremely special )

no, I'm afraid I haven't read it (not being a big fanfic reader here)... hm, sound interesting though. :P what's it about?

^That one. It's a lot of Will's history as it might have been - VERY intriguing and extremely well written. I don't often recommend fanfics but I recommend that one, and Honorat in general.

I, personally, would not have wanted to be married to a man who'd lost the person he'd loved most in the world. I mean, there would be times when you'd just know that he'd never love you quite the same way, you know? I dunno. I think Will would have stayed single.

ok, thank you, Melda! :) it sounds good (that's what mainly keeps me away from fanfics (not being well written) and being out of character...) and I'll take you're word for it! :)

I do understand what you're talking about! it would seem like it would strain your relationship a bit, wouldn't it? Just knowing that a peice of his/her heart was never truely yours... but back then things were different. Death was more easily accepted than it is today because people died younger and more often.... so people may have been able to re-marry easier... although I still know what you're saying and I do agree. :) (and Will and Elizabeth weren't exactly the normal people of that time so I could see them taking it harder (well, actually we KNOW how hard they take death, don't we?)

I guess I see what you mean, I wouldn't ever slap him but he does need a wake-up call doesn't he? :teehee: I prefer him adorable and naive though, it's more fun to watch. :D

Me neither! I would hate being second in his heart forever, and I'd also feel a bit like a substitute which would suck... :(

thanks... I'm glad it sorta made sense and you can see what I'm getting at. Well, I wouldn't slap him either but I might coach him a little on the female creature (as Jack might call it). ;) very true... it is a lot of fun to watch... to a point. I actually enjoy and prefer an older Will but with still a bit of the young naiveaty (not sure if I spelled that right).

I actually adore naivete (I think that's how it's spelled; pretty sure, anyway) in characters. Any characters. That was the one thing I was sad about in DMC/AWE, was Will's losing that adorable cluelessness. I still love hm, but it was a bit bittersweet. He's cutest in CotBP.

Let me know what you think of the fanfic - I adore it :)

(oh, yes, I believe that is how it's spelled. :duh: it makes more sense at least) well, sometimes I do... it makes the characters more personable or whatever you might call it (and sweeter too :P) and I do like it a little in Will sometimes and it IS sad that he looses a bit of the cluelessness.... however, in some ways he doesn't. There are a few scenes in DMC and even AWE where he's still slightly naive and sweet.

ok, I will just as soon as I get the time to read it! :)
