Of course, you may join. Welcome to the club, RDM!
Hmm, do you think Arwen and Aragorn would have fallen in love if they had lived in our world today, or would that have been nearly impossible because of their very different characteristics and roles in a school class then (It-girl and the invisible boy)?

^that's an interesting question... I guess if they were destined to be together (as they were in LotR) I think eventually, even if it was only finally when they were out of school where there were no cliques or whatever, they would've ended up together. I mean how different would they be in today's world than they were in Middle-earth? They were both in fairly different social classes and they both had something big to over come.

It could happen. I think Aragorn would have been a self-doubting jock, like maybe a wrestler or a football and Arwen could be this preppy, smart girl...

Hmm, I agree with you on that. But I think it would have been a bit more difficult in today's world than in Middle-Earth, as I think that the pressure the It-girl group would have put on Arwen could have been a bit harder to overcome. In Middle-Earth the two had to overcome some barriers as well, but I think the pressure from their friends in today's world is something different nevertheless. In M-E Arwen didn't have e.g. a friend who would ask her what she wants to do with a a guy who's a boring outsider in her opinion and would perhaps even bully Aragorn in some way. But I definitely think that they would have ended up together after school or when they were just a bit older to recognize that they were really meant to be together.

thanks, I'm glad to hear you agree with me. yes, it would've been a bit more difficult... but not impossible. Especially when they got out of school.

Thanks everyone for welcoming me to this club^^
I think that in schoolworld it would've been harder for Aragorn and Arwen to find out that they're ment to be together because they would've had so much going on with their life. It wouldn't have been just saving the Middle-Earth and then they could've lived happily ever after. Their lives would've been so hectic because of school, hobbies, families and friends. And after school they would've had jobs to go to. They easily could've missed the fact that they're destined to be together.

Yeah, I didn't mean that life in M.E. was easy^^ I just suck at putting things from my head to the computer screen I meant that in M.E. the little time they had between saving the world, they could spend on each other and in our time it would've been harder. Although, in our time the world probably wouldn't have needed saving anyway.
I hope this makes sense. I know it doesn't but just try to ingnore it^^

Well, you got your social barriers in Middle Earth.

That's an interesting point as well. I haven't thought about that before.
Concerning Middle-Earth's social barriers again:
Do you actually think that Aragorn sometimes felt some kind of guilt that Arwen had given up her immortality and her people for him? Do you think he would have made the same choice if he had been in her position?

Well, I think he probably did. I mean Arwen was giving up a lot to be with him... basically everything but him and you can see how much emotional pain that puts her through. So I'm sure he realized this was a huge sacrifice for her. And didn't he (in a deleted scene on the EE) even try to get her to back out and take the Evenstar back? I know it was because of some other things but it could've been for that too. (sorry, if I'm rusty at my A/A... it's been a while since I've seen the movies )
I totally think Aragorn would've made the same choice for her! I'm sure he loved her just as much as she loved him, so he probably would've given up just as much for her.

This question reminds of him in the Two Towers where he wants her to go to Valinor...I think he regrets it.

Hmm...PD, you answered this very nicely. I especially like how you've brought up the TTT scene ("It was a gift. Keep it" ). I don't think I have anything to add, again.
