This film is currently in post-production but you can view the trailer for it here (link).

I've never been a huge fan of the Henry VIII stories, I mean----who is, really, but I'm actually rather excited for this film. (When I'll be able to see it who knows.)

It's interesting to see Natalie Portman portraying such a character (for once, a character that you can hate) and Scarlett Johansson looks like she'll be the angel of the film (in contrast to the only other film I've seen her in and it was The Prestige).

The casting for Henry VIII with Eric Bana surprises me. I've always been a huge fan of Eric Bana, moreso with Hector in TROY, but from the trailer, it looks like Bana does a good job.

The music in the trailer is good, IMO, and if the film has the same music, I would be sold. :p

Overall, why on earth are the main characters so beautiful? :p

Scheduled to come out February of 2008.

Oh I can't wait until that movie comes out!!! :bounce: SQQUEEE!! (not very often I do that)

I'm really excited about Natalie's role. She has that sort of cunning look in her when she's Anne Boleyn.

Scarlett's role looks rather interesting as well. Her last roles that I've seen weren't that great but it looks like she's going to do a good job with it.

And Eric Bana looks promising. I think this movie is going to be really great when it comes out.

It looks like a beautiful film isn't it? The color are rich and it's beautifully filmed. Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson are both stunningly beautiful in those period dresses, and I giggles at Eric Bana's puffy sleeves.

Can't wait!!

I'm rather curious about the novel, maybe I'll check it out after seeing the film.

Oh I love Natalie in that green dress. You know, just for trivia, the costume designer for this movie did the costumes in Shakespeare in Love.

I haven't seen Shakespeare in Love, I s'pose I should, shouldn't I? :p The homeless romantic that I am. And there's so many great actors in Shakespeare in Love.

Natalie Portman looks gorgeous in these period dresses, I think my favorite one has to be the one where she's all dressed up as the Queen, the blue and just the overall design of the costume fits her so well.

Ok, I don't know much about this period and I haven't read the book (yet) but I just can't wait to see this movie!!!

I'm such a Nat fan! She's the most talented actress of her generation if you ask me! Of what I saw from the trailer, I'm sure I'm gonna enjoy this!

Bana seems carrying the role of Henry VIII very nicely, but well 3 minutes are a bit short to make an opinion!

I was waiting for months the trailer to come and it's really well done!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

OK but there is the thing: I understood most of what is said in it... (frenchy here I remember! :bye2: :P) but could someone really nice write me down what is said exactly?!This would be really helpful if it's not too much too ask! ;)

Well basically, this is what happens from the trailer:

Henry VIII (Eric) arrives to a household, the Boleyns household, the father wishes to marry off Anne Boleyn (Natalie) to the king. However, the king seems to like Mary Boleyn (Scarlett) , Anne's sister. They compete for the king's affection, both hoping to honor their family by marrying the king. Anne ends up the one being chosen, and they marry. She is queen. However, over the years Anne can't get pregnant or have a baby. Henry VIII as the king of England, needs an heir and she can't provide that for him. Henry VIII orders her to be executed but the only way for Anne not to die is for her sister, Mary, to ask for her sister to not be killed.

:p Well how about you go through the trailer again and try to make out what lines you're confused about and maybe we can try and clear things up? :)

Yeah I actually find out I understood most of it! :P

But definitly there are lines that bother me... This is a whole moment actually: it starts just after the messenger said that her failure to provide a heir has weaken the king's power (if I'm right...) and it goes until Henry says he has torn the country apart for her (if I'm still right! :P)
In the middle Nat is almost crying, my! she doesn't care for her non-english speaking audience! It's hard to get! lol!
Yeah and who's this poor guy whose head's rotting on a spike?! :confuzzled:

Lol, about the guy who's head is rotting on a spike: Your guess is as good as ours. Perhaps it's someone in history, but I think that's for us to find out when we go see the film!

The part where Natalie is crying... of course I can't make out what she's saying in the beginning, something, "... will be out that I cannot bear children."

My guess for that word in the beginning would be "snitch" but if you put that in the sentence it -could- make sense, I don't know if they'd use that word back in that time period though.

I have to say that the spot in the trailer where Anne Boleyn and Henry VIII have a conversation about being able to see great men.
"And what would you know about great men?"
"I'd know one, if he were before me."
"Do you see one here?"
"Looking, my lord. Ah, found one."

Ooh great Kitoky! Thanks! Actually just the end of the sentence makes much sense! :P Concerning the missing word I guess you're right because it looks like what we can here in the international trailer... *clicky!*

Btw this new trailer shows a few glimpse of very confused sentiment: yes, jealousy and treatchery, but also some kind of tenderness... I love complecated feelings! :) At least for a movie, it's important, it gains in depth...

Gah. It's still not clear in the international trailer. I think the other trailer was a lot more clearer and for some reason Natalie Portman's voice seems higher in these trailers.

But man Eric Bana gets more lines in this trailer. [squee]

And I liked the music in the first trailer best.

I agree, Ness, the complicated emotions seem to be a great theme of this. I can't help but dislike that Scarlett seems to be playing such an angelic character though. I need her to be more human. Natalie's character is perfect mainly because she expressed hope, desire, love, ambition, betrayed so well. Natalie is going to be wonderful in this film. :D

Yeah she will. Actually I might be a little biased towards her, due to a six year fancy with her. But I have the feeling this will be her best role yet. She can really play a dark character. The way she responded when Mary said "We're sisters" was so cold. "And therefore we're born to be rivals." I'm really excited for this.

I'm rather excited to see Natalie Portman portraying such a character, and I agree, Cauny (though being a fan of Natalie, I don't follow her that much) that this will be her best role yet. If she's not up for an award for this, I'd be surprised and I'm basing this off the TRAILER.

Personally I think from the trailer, Natalie's best line has to be "Make me your queen." Because just her voice, it resonates such audacity and conviction. Natalie Portman is so -very- talented and I should only hope that Scarlett is half as good as her in her performance because the moments of her in the trailer seem weak. The only line I really liked of hers was "Because she is my sister; and therefore, one half of me." And even then, it felt kind of weak. What I'm saying is, all throughout the trailer Scarlett seems to have the same basic expression on her face while we see Natalie portraying a wide range of emotions.
