That's neat, smeag. It will be interesting to see what you do with the story. Yeah, lol, respecting Tolkien is pretty much a pre-requisite for joining this forum... :P (In that case, sometime i'll post some of my writing too, Revenge.)

You are going to have to post some of yours.

I am guessing one of the next steps is for me to find a good picture of Ruth Ann.

Yeah, that'd be neat to see.
Well, i guess for now i could post the first scene of a fanfic i'm working on (which is ages away from completion) in which 26-year-old Frodo and 14-year-old Sam go to Brandy Hall for Yuletide, and Sam gets kidnapped (along with 4-year-old Pippin). If you want, i'll give you the link to the story once i've put it on my account at fanfiction.net (which may not be for a while, but will be eventually). So...here it is.

"What is it, Sam-lad?" inquired a friendly voice behind the young gardener.

Leaning forlornly on the kitchen windowsill, he straightened, stammering out, "N-nothing, Mr. Bilbo, sir." Although he attempted bravely to live up to his words, the effect was rather like a flower trying to hide its wilting leaves.

"Nonsense," snorted the old hobbit, laying a hand on Sam's shoulder. "You know I can see something's bothering you, so perhaps you'd better tell me about it. You've been moping about for days."

With a sigh, the fourteen-year-old gave up all pretense of contentment.

"It's just that, well, there's to be that gathering down in Buckland this Yuletide, and you and...and my master'll be goin' away. I always miss him so..." Disconsolately he trailed off, looking as though the Sun had set forever.

"In that case, there is something I have to tell you." At that moment, however, they heard the front door of Bag End creak open, and then slam with a bang!

"Good afternoon, Uncle," a young voice cheerfully called. "Have you seen Sam today?"

"As a matter of fact, I have," replied Bilbo, raising his voice to be heard across the hobbit hole, "and am at this moment, in fact. Please be so good as to join us, nephew. We've discovered a matter that requiers your immediate attention--though have you could have so grossly neglected your duties, I don't know," he added in a slightly forboding tone. A bit perturbed, the tween hurried to the kitchen, where he judged his uncle's voice to be coming from.

"Bilbo, wha--Sam, what's the matter?" In a heartbeat, Frodo was across the room, taking the mournful figure by the window into his arms. "Tell me." Gently spoken, it was a friend's request, not a master's command. Tearfully Sam looked up at him.

"You'll be leavin' for Brandy Hall soon, and Yuletide won't be the same without you. You won't be here to light the Yule log, sing the carols, trace pictures in the frost on the windows. I can't bear it when you go away, Master! I'll be all alone..." Once more he trailed off, sobbing into Frodo's shoulder.

"There, there," murmered the tween soothingly. Glancing up, he caught sight of Bilbo regarding him with a skeptically raised eyebrow. Knowing his uncle as well as he did, Frodo could guess that the cause of that particular expression was the fact that in the tween's elation at being told his dearest friend might accompany them to Buckland, he had forgotten to tell Sam he would be allowed to do so. With a twinge of guilt at this oversight, Frodo turned back to his little one.

"You won't be alone, Sam. I'll not leave you here while we go away for Yuletide. Bilbo has already discussed it with your Gaffer, and we've decided--well, they have: I knew it all along--that we want you to come with us to Brandy Hall to celebrate the Yule season there, if you want to." As the child's tear-stained face looked up at him, eyes shining, it seemed that the Sun had indeed risen after all.

"Oh, Master! I'm to come?" And with that he flung himself once more on his friend's neck, but this time in joy. Releasing a sigh of happiness, Frodo held the lad close for a moment more, then helped him to his feet.

"I take it you accept?" the tween laughed. Glancing across the kitchen, he noticed Bilbo's expression was still somewhat reproving.

"Y-yes, Uncle?" he inquired hesitantly.

"Next time, assuming there is a next time, you might try notifying the serving lad of our plans before he drowns himself in his own tears," Bilbo admonished mildly.

"I will," Frodo breathed fervantly, relieved to be let off unscathed.

"Now," the old adventurer continued, as if the matter were settled, "to business. Frodo-lad, run fetch those cakes from the pantry. Sam, put on the kettle. It's high time for tea."

Awesome.. unfortuanately I am unable to find a picture of Ruth Ann that pleases me. None of them really have been right. Some are closer than others, but only the best will prevail.

Maybe I will write another fic tonight, about the party, not sure.

The problem I am having with Ruth Ann is that she is too detailed in my head, so I am not satisfied with any of the pictures I am finding.

Maybe you could try drawing her, or ask someone to draw her according to your description if you're not comfortable doing it yourself. Anyway, just a thought. Thanks, Revenge, i guess we can't let this die again... Let's see, what shall we discuss next? Well, one thing i'll say is that the time in between Halloween and Christmas is special in a Frodo-related way to me, because somewhere in this time he became my muchly-loved favorite character in lotr (or any other book, at the time at least), and thus I became a lotr fan. And it's been five years. Five wonderful, Frodo-adoration-filled years... :P

There is a reason I have never posted any of my drawings, and why I use Photoshop. :P

I promise that i am looking for one, and when I run into one, you will be sure to know.

All right, that'll be interesting to see. Revenge, you became a fan earlier than i did--I was twelve. So I'm 17, too. :-D

I became a crazy lotr fan...before the two towers was on the screens, I had finished reading the trilogy :P
