^Oh I SO want to see that!!

Just saw The Nativity Story---the very recent one that came out in 2006. I thought it was well done, but it's the only film that I've seen about the Virgin Mary and the birth of Jesus. I thought Keisha Castle-Hughes could've done better with her emotions and dealing with the prophesy. I found Joseph's actor very excellent and I just love they dynamic of their relationship.

Kit -- Isn't Oscar Isaac amazing as Joseph! I hate to admit this, but I was almost tempted to fastforward a few scenes just to see him. [Gah.. that sounds so fangirly...] And yes, the dynamics of their relationship were the exact details I was talking about in my earlier post. The Bible certainly doesn't offer that much detail.

Just saw Juno at the cinema today. Yes, this is the third time I've been this week. My aunt is getting desperate. At this point it's anything to get my cousins and I out of the house. Anyway, enough about me - Juno was better than I thought it'd be. I can definitely see how it got so much press after the Toronto Film Festival. The story certainly wasn't a real happily-ever-after, but then again, if it had been I think it would've ruined the movie. Great story and great acting by Ellen Page. *le nod*

My Fair Lady

Ok, I'll admit. I haven't seen an Audrey Hepburn movie before this one and I was absolutely surprised at her performance. I heard she was good and everything but seriously, I thought she was excellent in this. And the actor playing Henry Higgins. I thought he was just hilarious.

YES. Oscar Isaacs is it? He was fantastic. And you're not the only one, Larael. I think I may be in love with him as well. *_* He had such great personality. The "I think they'll miss us." line was ace and when he was starving himself to feed the donkey (awwww!!).

Aww Emma, I'm finding myself to becoming a romantic even though I never was... I have been watching *counts on fingers* five Jane Austen-related movies, including Becoming Jane and the BBC series of P&P since last summer! Although, I missed Emma the other day....

Hurray for becoming a romantic! :P Admittedly, I tried to deny that side of me for many eons :P....but I can't anymore. :P Which is odd, because I grew up watching all the Jane Austen adaptations and reading Jane Austen...and watching similar things. :P The BBC P&P is the ONLY P&P that is worthy. :P Although, Matthew McFaden (sp?) is most beautiful to look at. XD You should really watch Emma! :) There are two versions, I think. :confused2: And THEN there's Clueless which is based on Emma. XD
I really want to see Becoming Jane, is it good? And I want to see the Jane Austen Book Club.

Hmm MoBo.. perhaps we could make a date in the Jane Austen fan club in the Club section.. I hear it might still be able to return it to life.. although, I'm still struggling against becoming a romatic... it's not in my nature...

Clueless... as in Clueless.. with Alicia Silverstone? You're kidding, right? That can't have anything to do with Emma I hope...

And ehh.. Becoming Jane is good on certain conditions:
- You like Anne Hathaway
- You can distract your mind from the fact that she is acting with the faun from Narnia
- You like Jane Austen and her works and can be forgiveable of a movie adaption that doesn't do the honourable author justice

I'd just like to intervene real quick:

MoBo is the best nickname ever.

Just thought I'd put that out there.

Oh yeah!!! Siddig was in the Nativity Story---unfortunately he didn't get many scenes, but he was in it. :D

And this was his first film as well! He's done some stage acting apparently, but this was his first big role. Keisha Castle-Hughes had nothing on him.

You know you're [s]bored[/s] procrastinating when you read through film pages just for something to do.

@ Frosty - You just watched one of her best films. Audrey Hepburn is a wonderul actress and was truly a wonderful, warm and all-round good person. I'm glad you saw her in something. I cannot recommend Roman Holiday and Sabrina too highly. :-)

@ Kit & Larael - Dare I ask for fear of being pounced on but who is Oscar Isaacs?

@ Ea & MoBo Monty - Yay for more romantics!!

Well I saw some of these a while ago but anyway....

It's A Wonderful Life- Well I actually saw this on the 19th of December the day before my birthday, but what the heck. Seeing this 1946 film in the cinema was one of the most amazing cinematic treats ever! It was amazing watching it as it should have been seen, and watching it with people who laughed and cried at the right places. All ages, and all fans and people who can appreciate good films that everyone can watch and enjoy. Great experience.

The Man Who Came To Dinner - One of my favourite Bette Davis films, but not because of her but because it is soo funny. It's set around Christmas so that's why I dragged it out to watch. Cheered me up no end. :D

Miracle of 34th Street - I hadn't seen this film for such a long time, so what with it being Christmassy I watched it. It was just such a nice feel-good Christmas film, it should be a law to watch it every year. I'm glad I saw it again.

Larael: You're right, although Keisha Castle-Hughes was nominated for an Oscar at such a young age, Isaacs definitely stole that film. There was just something sentimental when he came on screen as Joseph, from boyish crushes, hopeful marriages, a man, a husband, and finally a father. There were so many sides of Joseph that it sheds a light on the circumstances of Jesus's birth.

Oscar Isaacs is this actor. He played Joseph, father of Jesus in The Nativity Story (2006) alongside Keisha Castle-Hughes as Virgin Mary. We like him. :D Yes, we do.

You shouldn't have dared...

Oscar Isaacs is only the best actor in the The Nativity Story and the newest object of my [closet] fangirly-ness. I shant speak for Kit on this one, but I know we share the same sentiments concerning his acting abilities. *le nod*

You like him? I would never have guessed.

Thank you for dealing with my curiosity. :D

MB's right - clueless is based on jane austen's emma, in roughly the same way that io things i hate about you is based on the taming of the shrew.

"the faun from narnia" is actually the only thing that could ever convince me to watch that film - i think he (james mcavoy) is one of the most talented young actors around. his performance in bright young things is totally heartbreaking, he made a wnderful macbeth, and he was great in atonement and the last king of scotland.

anyhoo, the last films i watched were:
amelie. man, i love it. it's a truly magical film, and one whose spell will take a long time to wear off. and the kissing scene is just breathtaking - so intense and so beautiful.
mean creek. i watched it because rory culkin really impressed me in signs, and he tunred in another great performance, but it was scott mechlowicz who really stole the show.

@ Kitoky: You've said it all, my friend. What a fine, fine actor. I do hope we see him in other such roles in due time.

@ JF-ish-ness: Like him? How'd you guess? :teehee: He certainly isn't as high "up there" [in terms of fangirl crushes] as say Alan Rickman, but he certainly has captured my attention.
