awww, Bartimaeus... i want one.
I've been wanting to read that Jonathan Stroud trilogy. I happened upon his blog by accident, and he seems like an amazing guy. Sadly, our library doesn't have the books. *sniffle*
Currently reading: Orthodoxy by GK Chesterton, and Rob Roy by Sir Walter Scott.
I love both, and the latter is my second time through. S.W.S. has such a distinct way of defining accents, and I especially love the way he does the Scottish ones. Chesterton is fresh and appealing, almost, if I dare use this word on such a philosopher, fun. Reading his book has been for me like looking through the world with a child's eyes again; marveling at flowers, and feeling impishly clever when I spell "cinnamon" right.
So far my favorite quote has been,
"Death is even more tragic than death by starvation. Having a nose is more comic than having a Norman nose."

^^Isn't it brilliant though?
I finished up "Utopia." Loved it. Social/political satire is always good in my mind. But its also just pure brilliance. Hats off to Thomas More!
Anyway, started my Jane Austen binge.
Currently reading "Persuasion"! HURRAY!

Everything Is Illluminated by Jonathan Safran Foer. I've heard it's a really good book. So far it's pretty unusual, but I'm not very far. Let's just hope it's better than the movie, because I tried to watch it once, and not even Elijah Wood could make me want to keep watching it.

Oh! You guys are making me want to go on an Austen fest myself!!
You know I used to be in this online Jane Austen club (I was in a PG Wodehouse one as well) where we met over Skype every weekend (or sometimes MSN) and held reading sessions through a mic (taking turns with reading). It was really so much fun! When we read Pride and Prejudice, everyone had a different "Darcy voice" eheh.
I'm reading The Case Book of Sherlock Holmes again.
*sigh*
*keeps self from swooning just in time*
I think this is my favorite of the collections of S.Holmes stories. I mean, you really see his human side more in this one. Especially when he thinks Watson is shot.
*tear*
Such a sweet, logical, brilliant guy.
