today i watched...
how to steal a million a delightful film - audrey hepburn and peter o'toole were both thoroughly charming, and it had me smiling all the way through. just the thing to watch on a sunday morning
the jazz singer (the remake with neil diamond and laurence olivier) neil diamond was pretty good for a non-actor, larry was wonderful as ever, and lucie arnaz was rather endearing
tomb raider: the cradle of life i only watched it because my sister had to for her media exam, but it was enjoyable enough, and anything that gives me an excuse to swoon over gerard butler gets a huge tick straight off. still not as good as indiana jones though

^^I do intend to read the books! My friends have been nagging me about them for quite some time. XD
Anyway, I just watched "Sense & Sensibility".  GAH!!! WHY do I subject myself to these kind of films?! XD Alan Rickman IS Colonel Brandon. What IS it about him that makes you want to give him a great big, giant hug!? XD Oh yeah -- because he always looks so tragically depressed and sounds SO pessimisstic. *SQUEE* Basically, I love this film.
EDIT: Welllllllllllllllllllll, it was a night of Jane Austen for me. Many thanks to (and I now WORSHIP) PBS and it's Masterpiece Theatre program for doing the impossible. "The Complete Jane Austen" is going to probably be the death of me, but at least I'll die completely happy. The first adaptation they aired was the newest BBC adaption of "Persuasion". And I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. Every minute of it I was completely enthralled and taken by it. I haven't seen the first adaptation for many years, nor have I read the book in a great long while -- and this adaptation just reminded me of how much I ENJOY "Persuasion." It was SO romantic and WELL DONE. So perfect. I hate to admit it, but the ending had me in tears of happiness.  Wentworth was perfect (and GORGEOUS) as was Mr. Elliot (VERY handsome, I might add  ). Ha ha ha ha! And the cinematography was great -- I really enjoyed how it followed Anne.
OHHH. I canNOT forget Mr. ANTHONY HEAD. Tony Head with SIDEBURNS!  I LOVED him. He's SO wonderful at being VILE and vain. He was just a JOY to watch, as usual.
Sida told me it was good, but I had no idea it was this good.

signs. such an awesome film. i'd forgotten how much i love it.
they should get shymalan to direct the remake of the birds - signs gets much closer to the tone and atmosphere of the original short story than hitchock's film did.

king kong. it was much longer than it needed to be (although, i was watching the extended edition) and the characters were a little too flat for my liking (but then, we learnt from lotr that PJ can't write rounded characters); but it was entertaining enough, the effects were amazing, and i like PJ's sense of pace. also, i take my hat off to adrien brody - there aren't many other actors who could play a role like that and still maintain a sense of gravitas and artistic integrity.
good will hunting certain elements were rather too cliched; but it made some very interesting points about intelligence and education, and there were strong performances from robin williams (who i absolutely adore as a serious actor, though his comedy leaves me cold) and matt damon.

"Elvira Madigan". The 1967 Swedish masterpiece. WOW is all I have to say. It was absolutely exquisite. Breathtakingly gorgeous and visually stunning. What a beautiful and tragic tale 
"The Others". This is one of my absolute favorites. I can't even remember how many times I've seen it. It's the perfect supernatural thriller. It's dark and slightly Gothic Victorian (even though it takes place in the 1940's) and just plain wonderful! Hollywood always ruin supernatural thrillers or horror films by trying to give a logical explanation at the end of each film (and it's usually by one of the main characters all of a sudden turning psycho on everyone à la What Lies Beneath or Hide And Seek) and I absolutely cannot stand it. The Others is free from all that and has an awesome twist at the end and it still remains supernatural!

The Glass Menagerie
Way to ruin a perfectly good play. I enjoyed the play, Tom made me smile, and Amanda made me cringe. But the movie, just wrecked it. Tom is supposed to be unbelieveably sexy, and he turned out to have a sort of emo bangs/flop over hair style going on.
The Best of Monty Python
Muahahah. I love the Book of Dirty Hungarian Phrases.
