I'm in shock and denial right now.
I at first thought it was just some stunt by some tabloid...but read in both BBC and NY Times.

I was stunned when my brother told me. We were kinda hoping it was a bad rumour.
I'm angry and sad at the same time if you know what I mean. I'm angry with him, for if he did indeed take drugs, and if it was to basically end his life then he's a stupid *beep*. I'm sorry but he is. I know that probably isn't going to help anyone, but I just had to say it. How many deaths from alcohol and drugs from stars will it take before others realise it is not a cool thing to do? I'm really sorry if he felt he was in such a position that he had to do it, but I can't not feel angry with him for throwing away his life and his career, which would no doubt have been a long and full career with lots of things for him to enjoy.
It's just such a shame, such a waste. He seems to have a decent enough person, and from what I've seen of him a good actor, and someone who wasn't always in the news for the wrong reasons. It's a sad way for such a person to die.
BTW, Ala posted something about this in his acting thread.

JF, I think too many people are assuming it was drugs. The NYPD said there were sleeping pills in the room, not all around him like the first stories reported. It's too easy to overdose on over-the-counter sleeping pills without intending too. They have Tylenol in them, which is deadly in relatively small amounts. So if he did take pills, it might have just been a careless handful to get to sleep, not a suicide.
Yeah, I admit it, I just don't want to believe he was that stupid. I've admired him for years, and him ending it like that so young is almost... unthinkable for me.

I hope too, it was just carelessness... but in way that's even worse isn't it? To lose your life over so small an accident. *sigh*
I know, you don't want to think of anyone you like, that they might have taken the decision to end their own life.

No, not to me. The thought of him knowingly taking his own life is worse than anything. It's just sick no matter how it happened.
We need to make sleeping pills safer, that's a fact. How many celebrities have died because of them?

I know this sounds selfish but... has anyone heard if they've finished shooting The Dark Knight? Or will they have to find someone else, or whatever? =[

@ Timx4 - Yeah, you're right there. It's sad in as much as he didn't mean to do it, if it was accidental. He had not control over it as it were. If he had wanted to end his life, the choice to go ahead with it or not, would still have been his.
@ Inwe - I think they have finished. Poor Terry Gilliam, he's a director who has a bad time getting his films made for one reason or another, and now he star has died on him.

JF: God. Any way you dice it, it sucks. Him being so depressed that he wanted to die, or him fully intending to have dinner tonight. *Shudders*
Inwe: Yes, the movie is finished, thank god. "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" is filming though. I was excited about it, but now...
I just had a friend call me in hysterics. She loves him to the point of having a poster of him on her wall. I feel awful for her.

Yes, that's the sad truth.
God, I'm feeling really bad about this now. I hardly knew him as an actor, he just seemed like a pretty nice guy to me.
If only he was know for drugs or drink or something, maybe this wouldn't be so much of a shock. First thing I said to my brother was when he said he died was "what of"?. I was convinvced it was a sudden illness or something. Terrible.

As far as I know, he had no history of drug or alcohol abuse. It's like Owen Wilson and his sudden suicide attempt. Completely unexpected and even more horrible.
I haven't seen any of his really recent interviews (And there's no way I can watch them now), but he always seemed good-natured and pretty happy.

I think with Owen Wilson it was mentioned it was his third attempt, but I'm sure if that's reliable information.
It's probably people just reading into a bad day he may have had recently, and some bright spark has attributed it to his death.

He was probably exhausted from shooting and promoting Dark Knight and Doctor Parnassus. Yeah, well the collective IQ of 99% of the internet =<1

Yeah, apparently so. I don't think the media got hold of those incidents though when they happened, it was a while back I believe. As I said, it probably isn't correct.
Jeez, I wonder what his Batman co-stars make of this, I mean they would have been working closely with him, you'd think if he was "troubled" they'd have seen some sign.

First of all, I can't wait to see this movie. Christian Bale is the best actor ever (love him), and Heath Ledger was great also. Second of all, I can't believe Heath Ledger just died. I didn't believe my sister when she told me. He wasn't, like, my absolute favorite actor, or anything. However, he was really growing on me, and I liked him in a lot of his movies. So, that is really sad. But, they did complete this movie, so we have one last thing to watch him in. (Yeah, as an insane, creepy clown dude.)
