Calloniel (PD) wrote: hmm, I don't believe there is any need to worry about them making Bree corny, Anie. As Melda pointed out, technology is pretty advanced... and in 4 or 5 years... who knows! Also, don't forget there IS a talking horse even in LWW and he's just fine.
Really? Shift annoys you guys that much? hmmm, maybe there's something wrong with me then! I don't really mind him, he's annoying and he's a traitor so of course I don't like him, but still... he dies so it's all good! But do they all really die in The Last Battle (even Peter and Edmund and Lucy?)? I'm only 3 chapters from the end and that's how it appears to be at this point... if that's the case than it's totally depressing! how can they all just... die!?
Ooo, Aravis! I'm looking forward to seeing her too! and Shasta...
Good point! Oh yes, I'd sort of forgetten about good old Philip! BTW, did you know the actor who voiced the horse Philip was also named Philip?
Well, I personally can't stand traitors...that's why I don't like Shift. That's true, he does.
It's...hard to explain, but I think Nurr did a pretty good job so just listen to her. It's more of a bittersweet ending, really, because it's like they're in their heaven now.
Oh, they better get somebody who's both a good actor and cute for Shasta, or I will be MAD.

Haha Man I dont think Shasta should be "cute". He's only supposed to be around ten, for Lord's sake! I actually rather like the Horse and his Boy so I hope they do a good job on it.
Nurr said it quite well... They all die, but I think that its such a happy ending. I think that by it C.S Lewis was really telling us that there IS a better place... And if you notice that the children are "dead" but they still live. Its like a rebirth into something better... Into the Truth

I think Shasta's probably closer to twelve or thirteen, but that's me. I hope they give us a couple hints of cute Aravis/Shasta romance-ish stuff, cause I've always thought that was pretty much the funniest couple ever

I know! I love Shasta and Aravis. (H&HB is my favorite book, anyhow. ) I do hope they find a *good* actor for Shasta. He is around 13, so he should be sort of cute. They are both such fun characters, and together they're AMAZING. The best Narnia couple ever. (Besides the Beavers, maybe.)

Nurr, ok... glad to know I'm not alone. that is very sad, I mean I get why they all have to die, and it still has a happy ending, but still... man, I think The Last Battle is just gonna be so sad once they make it into a movie! even if they do end up in paradise… and look at it from Susan’s perspective. I mean, she was the only one still alive? That’s gotta be harsh!
Anie, really? Lol I didn’t know that… it’s funny!
Well, I can see that… traitors are bad, but still there’s something interesting about Shift to me. Yeah, that’s sorta what it seems like it is to me too… bittersweet.
Saira, aye, you explained it well too. thanks!
haha, yes, Shasta and Aravis! I cannot wait to see both of them! you guys are right, they're just great together! It was so funny to read the end of H&HB and read that they ended up together!

"Well, they'd been bickering and making up for so long that they just got married so as to do it more conveniently." I love them.

^*claps* That's my FAVORITE Narnia quote ever. Except maybe for "Raw meat is not a nice thing to fill one's pockets with."
You know what's really ironic? Lloyd Alexander wrote a series called The Chronicles of Prydain, and two of the main characters in there remind me a lot of Shasta and Aravis! Their names are Taran and Eilonwy, and Taran is always making Eilonwy mad but they end up getting married in the end of the series anyhow. It made me laugh when I realized the parallels.
Oh, and I agree with Melda, when I said Shasta should be "cute" I was picturing a twelve- or thirteen-year-old, and kind of puppy-cute. If that makes any sense at all.

haha, those are some great quotes, Anie and Nurr! After just finishing The Last Battle today I have a quote I rather like... tis in my siggie *points down* "The term is over: the holidays have begun. The dream has ended: this is the morning." although it's still so sad... I guess I really feel bad for Susan is all... but, yeah, the ending was bittersweet.
Awww, Reep is awesome! I'm sure the acting and everything will be good. so don't worry, Saira! They've done REALLY well so far in all their actors. anyway, I dunno if anyone else has found this but I found an awesome Narnia sit tonight... with pics from Prince Caspian (the trailer ). It's cool though!

Thanks! Aww... *sniffles and wipes eyes* such a beautfiul, bittersweet quote. (btw, love your new sig set!) I know what you mean, even if I didn't like her much in that book I still feel terrible that she's been left behind.
What a great site name! I love it! *goes exploring*

"Three cheers for Narnia, The Free Lands and Aslan!"
Definitely! I think that after my boarding school experience (much like Hogwarts may I add, minus the amazingly good food and magic, twas much the same. Except that location was prime {the foot hills of the Himalayas with the first range of real mountains as a permanent backdrop } and you knew every single person by name, where they were from and all that...) Narnia is next! Hang on... I HAVE been there! Childhood takes you many MANY places and I know that I was there... Perhaps to all them grown-ups it might have been pretend, but I know I really did go

ahem, haven't be dulled this out before, Pip? Reep is mine!!
you're welcome... I'm glad you liked it too. It's actually the last quote in the whole series. And thank you... I rather like my siggie too. Although I was planning on changing it soon (surprised?). I've just been to lazy to get around to it. Well, that and the fact that I do still really like it. But maybe being left behind like that might kick her into believing in Narnia again? After going through such a tragedy it might snap her back to what's real in live. I sure hope so at least.
I thought it was a pretty neat name too!
don't worry, I couldn't forget you, Pip!!! although we’re probably too old to go now.
Saira, that's interesting... I guess you sorta have a point there. In childhood you have a huge imagination (although I've made it my goal to keep imagining and having fun no matter how old I get) and you do go to places rather like Narnia. Hmmm, there's something to ponder over in those words.

I think that to me all those places DID and in a way still DO exist. We built up on idea and stories that we hear as children... I had the Hobbit read to me by my parents as they sat at the end of my bed and took turns each night to tell me a little piece. I think it took them two month But I would go off during the day and imagine what the next bit would be an I would BE Bilbo. Or Lucy, or Princess Leia or some random creature in a setting of my own....
If we look at it like Calvin and Hobbes, I can relate to that I had a very Calvin-like being an only child so I made up world after world and in effect they existed. I saw them as that, not my little back yard or the run-down playground.
Now as I grow up I begin to understand that to a child, their imaginations is EVERYTHING. Children are innocent and wise in their own way, so all their play has meaning. What that is changes from child to child, but I know that if I could go back there and be a little girl again, I think I would agree in a heartbeat

Completely off topic, but at this very moment I'm using Calvin and Hobbes in an essay I'm writing for a scholarship. I just thought that was really funny to be talking about it then coming here and seeing it.
True, that is the beauty of books, especially. We can read them again and again and enter different worlds every time.
