Uh, I just finished Exit Wounds as well...as I said in another thread, I do not appreciate crying over television, for goodness sakes. This always happens to me. It's always my favorite character. Without fail.

Yeah I'm still a bit upset by their deaths. That's certainly a first. Seeing a grief counselor for fictional characters.

"So tell me why you're here."
"I'm mourning over two loved ones and they died two days ago."
"Oh I'm sorry to hear that. Do you know them well at all or..?"
"Actually I watched their entire life on television."
*Giant silence*

Haha, exactly.

I was smarter than I was the first time I cried over a tv episode (which was Dr Who, season 2 finale, btw). The first time I went out into the kitchen to get a water, and my mom was like "ZOMG Monica are you okay? What's wrong?" And I like burst out, "Rose is gone!!!" And then she was like..."Do you mean Dr Who? You're crying over tv? Are you kidding?"

This time I just sobbed to myself for a moment, then made sure I looked completely normal before I made an appearance anywhere. See? I'm learning.

I was at home alone at the time, so I didn't have to worry about that part.

Spoilers!

I really, really loved "Exit Wounds." It's probably my favorite episode of the show so far. I thought it, as sad as it was, was absolutely fantastic, even though I was crying for about the last ten minutes. It completely made up for how lame last season's finale was. Ugh. Even so, I can't believe they killed off two characters in one episode.

Before we get to the deaths, I really got a kick of out Ianto and Tosh's reactions to those scythe creatures. After emotionlessly shooting them down...
"There we are then"
"Sorted"

Then there was
"COME OOOONNNN! Sing along, It's our song!"
"We don't have a song. and if we did have a song it wouldn't be this song."
"You're no fun."

I knew Owen would be completely dead by the end of the series from the time they resurrected him the first time. From a writer's standpoint, his inability to heal made him impossible to keep on for a long period of time. So, I guess I was pretty much ready for him to go. Not that it made it any easier though. I hated him at the end of last season, but now I really have come to love him. Just in time for him to die not once but twice. :grr:

TOSH. She was definitely my second favorite character and seeing her get shot was like being punched in the gut. Shocking and horrible and terrifying. But I'm glad that they didn't kill her off just for the sake of having another body. She died doing something and saving people, which is how she wanted it. And her last conversation with Owen really was perfect. As much as we all wanted it, for them both to be proclaiming their love for each other as they died would have been so out of character that it wouldn't have worked. The lines in my sig,
Quote:
"WHY? GIVE ME ONE GOOD BLOODY REASON WHY I SHOULD, ONE GOOD REASON WHY I SHOULDN'T KEEP SCREAMING!"
"Because you're breaking my heart."

Was amazing and beautiful and absolutely heart-wrenching. I really loved how sweet Owen was to her (FINALLY) and the little Space Pig conversation rocked.

I think the hardest part of the episode for me was when Ianto activated the farewell message. It was really great, but so hard to watch... *Loses coherency*

Quote:
All this said, do you think the team will be using the glove on Tosh next series?
"Hahaha! I hope so. Never say never. There has been talk and we've kind of left that open and in the air. It would be nice, wouldn't it?"

Would you want to go back? It's kind of been wrapped up as it is.
"Torchwood has been the most phenomenal experience for me, as a person and as an actor. It's certainly changed my life! I would never say no to [going back], but as I've always said, I want to make sure it's done for the right reason. It all depends on the story and should not just for the sake of it. If they do then I'm sure it will be, because it's Russell and the great team of writers he has. We'll just have to see, I guess. Would people want to see that happen?"

Though if the rumors that Mickey and Martha will be brought in next year are true, I am dome watching it.

I finished "Out of the Rain", or whatever its called. Very good. Very creepy. My favorite lines are:
Jack: Ianto is with me. I need someone with local knowledge
Gwen: Is that what you're calling it now?

I have to say, the rain does Ianto and Owen good :P

I gave a little internal squee at the end when Ianto was crying. He's so cute!

I've also made it about half way through Adrift. I have to say, its very good. I had to do a double take when Gwen walked in on Ianto and Jack. They have such nice upper bodies.....:P I laughed when Ianto sheepishly put on his shirt. I also loved the dialogue
Jack: You know Gwen, you could have used you earlier for naked hide and seek
Ianto: He cheats. He always cheats.

I had to stop at the part when Rhys and Gwen are fighting at the picnic. That's so sad. Or wait....maybe a bit afterwards. I can't remember.

Mickey had always annoyed me, and I'm pretty sure that I've expounded on my undying hatred for Martha before...

Forgive me for being overly-opinionated. I either love or hate fictional characters. *Shrugs*

I've never liked Micky, I like Martha though. Why do I get the feeling that the two new members of Torchwood will be Captain John and Martha?

Oh, and not meaning to sound all depressing, but it is actually impossible for Owen to be dead, as well, he's already dead. he can't die again. Sure his body will de-compose and he won't be able to see/hear/touch/smell ect. But he will still exist in this life. He won't be able to pass over. He'll just be, I don't know, a few atoms or something. But he won't be dead-dead. If that makes sense.

There are always going to be characters that either annoy you, frustrate you, anger you and generally make you facepalm. But for me personally, I'll never give up something I enjoy, due to one small thing.

I never stopped watching the first season of Torchwood, because I found Owen to be quite irritating at times.

I never stopped watching Lost because Shannon was an insufferable bimbo.

End of the day, the good always outweighs the bad if it's a show you are really devoted too.

Actually he will be dead dead. Basically the only reason why he's still alive was because he absorbed all the energy from his battle with Death. And he's using that energy which will run out at some time. So he's a bunch of undead atoms until that energy runs out in which case, he's a bunch of dead atoms.

^Thank you for posting that. I wrote this gigantic thing saying basically the same thing and the forum killed it. *Stabs*

If they kill two of my favorite characters and replace them with people I fantasize about torturing... Eh. If every time I see these new characters I cringe and think "You killed them to give me THIS!?" ...Eh. And truthfully, there is not a single television show I'm am devoted enough to that I'll stick with it no matter what. Call me a disloyal jerk, but that's how I am.

In most cases, yeah, I'm with you. I stuck with Lost until it just got too weird for me, stick with Criminal Minds even though Spencer is an ass, still watch Stargate Atlantis even though they just keep killing people... but COME ON. In this case I'm just so pissed off that they killed 2/5 of what was, in my opinion, the greatest cast of main characters I've ever seen.

*Screams and pulls out hair*

Also, I found a pretty funny and spoiler-filled (*Cough*) review of the finale...
Quote:
Series two of Torchwood is lucky enough to have had the bar for series finales set absurdly low by that giant demon thing in series one. They could have had the team chasing a single weevil and it would have beaten it. So it was rather wonderful to see the programme make an almighty effort to do out on a high.
That high was driven by the wonderful return of Captain John, which like his last appearance, has ironically resulted in one of the rare occasions when the programme isn’t derived by Buffy. Although did anyone else notice that James Marsters at one point ended a scene with what was, without a shadow of a doubt, the ‘in peril’ music they used to use at the of Buffy episodes? Watch it again. It was definitely there.
Anyway, he’s the Big Bad, except he’s not, because he’s actually in love with Jack and being used by Jack’s brother Gray to do his bidding. This involves blowing up large sections of Cardiff (insert a ‘how will they know the difference’ joke here). Once again, the Torchwood staff seem utterly flummoxed by something they should really be taking in their stride, seeing as they are Earth’s protection force against aliens. Instead, all the team get scared, and Gwen (bloody Gwen) has to boss them around. Foolish Torchwood!
The whole John on a rampage thing was dealt with by burying Jack for two thousand years, who was awoken in the surprisingly unlesbian Victorian Torchwood. He then comes back to life to deal with Gray in an underwhelming way I wasn’t really paying attention to, because
DEATH IS HAPPENING!
The most exciting part of any programme: killing off a regular character. Or in this case, two. Or in this case, one non-annoying member of Torchwood (Tosh) and one also-there-and-I’m-largely-indifferent-to-him member (Owen). It’s always difficult to ‘do’ deaths in this kind of programme without swaddling it to death in mawkish idiocy. (That did admittedly come later with Ianto deleting their computer profiles. They could have lightened it by showing him recording a new answerphone message without them on it.) But their separated deaths, both trying to save the other in their last moments, was handled with a deft touch.
It does, though, leave a rather sizeable problem, and I’m not just referring to the size of Gwen’s hands. They’ve only got Ianto on staff who doesn’t deserve to drown in Cardiff Bay. Captain John is around, but I suspect he’ll be nipping in and out throughout series three without sticking around. If both he and Martha came on board, then they would be on to something. Series two has definitely been a marked improvement on what came before it. Can the programme do it again?

Okay, if John Hart joins Torchwood, I'll cry. I mean, I LOVED him in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. It was a bit refreshing to see someone who's a bit "Jackish" than Jack himself, but too much of John would be overkill. Just too overpowering.

And I second that Stargate Atlantis comment. First Ford, and then Beckett, and then Wier. Grrrrrr. I'm going to be so sad when Owen and Tosh kick the bucket.
