Ha ha ha ha ha ha! There is NO doubt that the originals PWN (YES!) the new ones.

I was 6 years old when I saw "A New Hope" in theatres and it changed my life. :P So, the new ones definately can't compare. Ha ha ha ha. And I only like Episode III because the atrocious writing got better and was actually an emotional piece of art. :P

OH, and then there's Ewan McGregor. ;) He's the ONLY reason I could watch Episodes I and II. XD

[Ok, I'm going to show my ignorance here... what does PWN mean? It's been driving me nuts for years!]

OMG, you were 6!?!! :swoon: I watched them when they were re-released in 1997 (oh, to be 9 again) and it completely changed my life as well. I remember wondering why the heck my mum was saying I should go and see a film "like Star Trek" and why she had already seen them when "Star Trek space films" don't interest her. It was the only time my eldest brother ever took me to the cinema, it was the first time I had KFC food and... oh... it was just an awesome experience watching them all in the cinema. Completely made me into the film buff that I am today. If it hadn't been for SW I doubt I would have been interested enough in films to watch LOTR.

The new ones just don't compare with the originals. The SW world was made to complicated and high tech for my liking, and no matter how GL tried to make them match the orignals, storywise, there are loads of things that don't make sense. And I'll never forgive him for adding that plank of wood to then end of ROTJ, instead of the old Anakin. Not only does that make no sense, it's an insult to the orignals.

*takes a breath*

*gets off box*

^ pwn(e)d is like... it means "owned", beaten, etc. Ok, that's making it sound violent. Um... it's like on that 70s show, whenever they say 'burn!'. It's a mild(?) insult, I guess. It's also pronounced like own with a p in front of it. A good example I can think of? I saw a LJ icon somebody had made and it had the image of Isildur floating face down in the river with arrows sticking out of his back. And there was the word PWNED. See my LJ userpics page:

I like the new SW movies, but when I was watching them this past weekend (I haven't seen them in a while), I kept thinking it was a little too cheesy. The first one is ok, but Hayden really works the hormonal teenage boy thing, and it... kinda messes up the movies. The original trilogy is still the best :)

Yup. 'Pwn'/'Pwned'/'Pawnage' comes from 'own'/'owned'/'ownage' etc. If something 'totally OWNS' something else, it means it is better--like a burn, as Elarinya put it. :) One day, someone accidentally hit the 'p' instead of the 'o' key when typing 'own'...and thus 'pwn' was born. Pronounced 'pown', it means the same thing. :P

@ Darky - NO WAY! I used to live there! Ive lived all over Alberta... Im actually going to Lethbridge on Friday... Wow :P

"Little Women" - It was on TV actually. I thought it was pretty well made and I love love LOVE the dresses.

@ JF-sie - I think that pwn comes from some idiot who accidentally pressed the 'P' key instead of the 'O' on their keyboard and it all went from there. Thats Saira's theory (and she suspects its right :teehee: )

^ The older Little Women (with Elizabeth Taylor)? I saw some of that several months ago and it was pretty good.

Last movie I saw: Ocean's Eleven. And it was awesome :)

I think the last movie i saw was Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith on SpikeTv. the only disadvantage was that I couldn't fast-forward to Obi-WAn's scenes. ;)

enchanted.

the first three times i saw it, i was all out in love with it - the musical numbers are simply glorious (God bless alan menken and stephen scwartz!), amy adams is delightful, james marsden is hilarious, and it was wonderfully nostalgic to see disney doing cartoon again. those critiques still stand, but last time i watched it, i realised that it is the most sexist disney film ever made. all giselle does is wait for her prince to show up, and then it comes apparent that he's not her true love, she doesn't fight for the man she does love until he's decided to fight for her. it's a little pathetic really. i don't think disney's ever been that sexist before - the only disney princesses who hang around waiting for a prince to stumble by are snow white and sleeping beauty, and that's because they're unconscious! disney women go out and make their own destinies - they sneak into royal balls (cinderella) and change species (ariel) in order to win their true love. they fight entire armies (mulan) and sacrifice themselves to beasts (belle) in order to protect what they already love. they run away from home to seek a different life (jasmine) and they turn down undesirable proposals (jasmine, belle and pocahontas). proper disney women are pro-active, and driven by more than just a desire for true love's kiss. they're not willing to accept the life expected of them, but will fight for what they believe they deserve. on all those counts, giselle fails as a disney heroine. the non-thinking part of me still loves the film - it makes me grin like an idiot from start to finish - i just object to the message it seems to give out to young girls. sorry, that turned into a bit of a feminist rant didn't it? oops! i didn't intend for that to happen.
