Ok, that's kind of what I thought they were. ;) thanks for explaining it though, Ali! Hm, and I was going to ask... what is an easy way to "unzip" files? Just wondering... and I thought I could continue to leech off your guys' knowledge. :innocent:

[No joke, I JUST got asked about zipped files on another website I make graphics on!]

If you have the standard Winzip that comes with most Windows computers, you can open the zipped file containing whatever it is you want to unzip, right click on it, click 'unzip', and follow the directions (choose a destination folder for the files, etc. etc.) Then your files will appear in whatever your destination folder is.

Zipping files... ..... Right... Me and my "Paint" knowledge... Well, now there is more room in my brain for other things...

(Thinks: And you call yourself a Graphic Maker! *Slaps head*)

I know that on my Windows XP, what I do with zipped files is double-click to open them, then select the option to "extract files" (on the left-hand toolbar for me, though it might be elsewhere for you). Zips really are something of a nuisance, in my opinion, but I suppose they serve their purpose.

Thanks for the help, Ali! although I tried it last night and it still didn't work for me... we must not have Winzip. :eyeroll: however we do have Windows XP so maybe what PotR suggested would work? So I suppose I shall try that too. Thanks both of you guys for the help!

Zips are annoying. :headwall:

btw, don't feel bad, Jane... lol I didn't know what they were until Saturday. ;) and sometimes I wish I still didn't know what they were! lol

I used to live with an IT specialist.

And dated a computer programmer last year.

So I know most of the terms. =P I'm got WinRAR, though, which is easier but different than Winzip, so...was kinda going by how I remember on other computers I've had. I think you can download winzip free if you don't already have it. o.O Should come standard with Windows machines, though.

What are you trying to unzip? Brushes, textures, fonts?

I can't say I really mind zipped files. It's pretty easy when you have Winzip right click>>extract here>> bingo.

Years ago my brother downloaded PS9 for a 30 day trial and it came with Imageready, which after the 30 day trail, IR stayed. When the computer decided to crash and we had to re-start windows, IR disappeared and my brother wasn't too happy. He downloaded it again (illegally) and along came PS9 with it... for good.

Is Photoshop 9 a good version.... I don't know if I should be tempted.... I don't think I am because I love PSP and apart from the fact you guys get more tutorials and resources I wouldn't really want to swap.

Well, I did it the way PotR mentioned and it worked extremely well. So I'm happy now. that's how it goes most of the time... once you figure these things out it goes really well. It's just figuring them out for the firs time that's a pain. ;)

I was trying to unzip fonts, Ali. :)

Don't ask me, JF.... I wouldn't know anything about it at all. :innocent:  but I would suggest you just stay with what you have. You do an amazing job with that as it is! :swoon:

Try using tinypic or imageshack for now, Jane. =)

Where do you get your fonts from, Call? I'm always looking for new ones >.>

Aaaand, yes, I'm Scar now. Tomorrow I'm going back to Aliana and one of my pretty fandom sets, though. I like Scar. He's evil and creepy and awesome. And I had decent Lion King caps saved to my computer. :P I kinda like how the coloring came out on him, though.

To be entirely off-topic...

We all like graphics, right? So we all like looking at them, right? So might some of us (who aren't RPers and who haven't already voted) be willing to toddle over to The Old Forest and vote for the RPG Characters Banner Contest? It's huge, I know, but we'd love you forever :)

^that's weird... it won't even let you on tinypic or imageshack? Hm, is it saved for the internet? Because I know it won't let me download mine until I "save for web". But I'm sure you've already done that (if you even have to do that for Paint). :erm: I dunno what to say... what if you tried it tomorrow? Sometimes computers get like that and they'll do something one minute and then they won't the next. :eyeroll:

Ali, I got some of my fonts from dafont… which has so many fonts on there that I don’t know if it’s possible to download them all.

I already voted, Melda! I was a good girl. :P
