Stephanie Meyer gets the "Most Overrated Author of the Decade" award! Yay! *Throws confetti*
Honestly, you could not get me to touch those books with a ten foot pole.
Anyway, I'm reading
"All Quiet on the Western Front" by some guy who's name I can't remember.

Haha, I read "All Quiet" for school, and I basically wanted to /wrists.
Oh, and I got a little sidetracked from my overrated author, and just picked up "The Phantom Tollbooth." Haha.

I'm actually kind of enjoying it. It's an easy, quick read, and moves so much faster than the last few books we've read, "A Tale of Two Cities" and "Things Fall Apart." *Gags*
And The Phantom Tollbooth is amazing.

^Ick, are you kidding? It was boring. But you're right, it is better than Things Fall Apart. And A Tale of Two Cities.
(I actually have a theory that if you read just the first two chapters and the last two chapters of Two Cities, it would be an entertaining book)
I'm currently reading...Cry, The Beloved Country for school, since you brought it up.

No... I actually am able to read it. I'm on chapter five and haven't used SparkNotes once, which is quite an accomplishment for a school novel. I mean, it may not be riveting, but it didn't literally put me to sleep like the other two mentioned.
(It's also not that bad if you give up and read the summaries on the internet)

I just finished reading Lord of the Flies. I have to say it wasn't bad, but now we're reading Animal Farm.... I. Want. To. Die....

I loved Animal Farm! And hated Lord of the Flies.
Why is it that school novels are always THE WORST?

I usually hate everything we read, because when it comes to deeper meaning, I find it pretty shallow.

I'm reading Sword-Born, the fifth book in the Tiger and Del series by Jennifer Roberson. They're absolutely hilarious.

I like them both, actually. Animal Farm was pretty good, but I really did enjoy the layers and layers of symbolism in Lord of the Flies.
Of course, this year we read Fahrenheit 451, which is one of my all-time favorite books. I'd read it dozens of times before this year, and it just never gets old.
Argh. I'm going to have to pick it up again now.

Finished "Agnes Cecilia" by Maria Gripe this morning (for the hundreth time probably) and started on "Skuggan Över Stenbänken" by the same author
We loves mystical, mysterious and slightly supernatural tales

I don't know about other people, but I like to make my own mind up, even when blabbering in bed xD
We had to read an excerpt from that for World Lit thos year. And Sei Shonagon is actually a woman, which is part of the reason that the Pillow Book was so controversial for her time. I could go on and on about it, but I won't. I found it quite funny though, if she is a little opinionated. It was good.
