Lol. I admit, I was never really a huge fan of Obi-Wan til I rewatched RotS a few weeks ago. Since then, I've been hooked. He really is an amazing character [and Ewan is a fantastic actor!] I'll definitely be joining.

I'll join.
Obiwan is one of my favorite characters, alwas has been. Even in the 4,5 and 6 I liked him the best. *shrugs* I think it was something to do with his wise council and the cool part he plays.
Hey, I voted for the clone wars obiwan. (I liked him best in episode 2 though... his hair style in 3... just didn't work for me lol )

Not very active.... it seems tomany of the clubs are that way....
I have a debate question concearning Obi-wan, though.
Anakin refers to him as "As wise as master Yoda and as powerful as Master Winu."
Since Yoda is wiser than master windu, and it is quite accepted that Mace Windu is the best swordsman in the univers....
Does this mean Obiwan was better than Yoda in an all-round kind of way as well as better than master windu in the same way....
Or perhaps, was Anakin just over-stating things?

I'd like to join!
And Jax, he was probably overstating. He admired his master a lot, but it seems a bit of an exagerration.

I think the key word is "As", meaning *more than likely* that Anakin probably meant that Obi-Wan was equal in wisdom to Yoda, which, I think he was.
sorry for the inactivity. I've been kind of stressed this past week.

Double sorry for my inactivity. I've had a heck of a week, but I'd really like to be more active in this club. Thanks for making me co-founder, by the way, Petra!
I'd like to think that whilst Obi-wan is extremely wise and a skilled fighter he still wasn't quite as wise as Yoda. Yoda seems to be a very Gandalf-esque character who is really the wisest of them all. He's at a level that I don't think anyone can truly reach.
I voted for prequel Kenobi in general, especially in RotS. He really grows as a character in that one and really comes into his role as a prominent Jedi.

well, I guess if you're 900 years old that's definitely a level NOBODY could reach, lol.

lol yes, being so old Yoda has the upper hand.
And I agree, Obiwan could not be wiser than Yoda.
But say, perhaps, if he was as wise or close to as wise as Yoda, and as powerfull or close to as powerfull as Mace...
With those two qualities comnpbine could he beat Mace or Yoda in a fight?
We saw first hand in Episode 3 that Mace could beat the emporer but Yoda could not. (due to the tipping of balance between wisdom and saber skills)
However, could Obiwan, with a moderate level of both aspects combined defeat the emporer?
(which beggs another question... would things have turned out differently if Yoda went after Anakin and Obiwan after the emporer?
And then... why didn't they BOTH go after the emporer and then BOTH go after anakin? lol yeah anyway...)

I'm not sure as to why Yoda didn't do it the opposite way. I think Obi-Wan was powerful enough to take Anakin, but compassion for his former apprentice stopped him from actually killing him. I still don't know why Obi left Anakin to burn on Mustafar. It would have been much more human and Jedi-like of him to finish Anakin off instead of letting him suffer...I guess that's what doesn't make sense about Lucas' scripts.
and maybe Yoda sent Obi after Anakin because Obi-Wan taught Anakin everything he knew, so he would know Anakin's weaknesses and his strengths. Obi-Wan gained the upper hand because of his keeping his temper and aggression in check; Anakin did not.
so I think that Obi-WAn could have defeated Anakin had he not had that compassion there. Had he actually killed Anakin, Padme might not have died and there would have been a chance of Obidala!

Welcome Nienna Anárion!!
Yeah, I agree Petra. I also think it was Obi-Wan's love for Anakin that prevented him from actually finishing the job. He very easily could have.... and like you said, I would think it would be more human to just finish him instead of let him burn like that.
Of course, naturally, he never would have guesed that someone would come along and rescue him... but still....
I think he should have just killed anakin, and then Yoda AND Obi-Wan could have gone and taken out the Emporer....
Then we solve the problems of 4,5 and 6
