True... quite true.
Every time you change something a little in the pressent, it changes the outcome in the future by unmesurable proportions.
Messes up the whole timeline and given probability, even the smallest change could cause one of the later characters to simple sceese to egsist....
(sorry... I watch to much Stargate SG1 lol)

Lol, it's okay. I always compare stuff that happens to me and stuff that's said to Star Trek, so you're not alone.

I really need to be more active...
I definitely think Obi-wan could take Mace on any time and win. It's just another case of Jedi hierarchy really. Obi-wan just seems to be a little wiser and stronger than Mace. When it comes to the Emperor, I'm still not sure. Mace may have defeated the Emperor in a way, however look where he ended up. Dead. Yeah, the Emperor is someone I think only Yoda should handle because even though they are almost equal in strength, at least they both have a better chance of coming out of a fight alive.
I think Yoda made the right choice in sending Obi-wan to kill Anakin instead of himself. Besides the fact that Obi-wan knows Anakin's strengths and weaknesses I think Yoda wanted Obi-wan to do it because it provided closure between them and their relationship.

True. I don't think that the holo-recording provided enough closure.

Verry true, Obiwn knew Anakin's fighting as well as he knew his own. But perhaps, then, Anakin knew Obiwan as well too. However (as evident by the movie) his prespective was scewed by the darkside.
However, in the instance with Mace, and him ending up dead... If Anakin had not been there Mace would have killed the emporer and won. I believe it was only because Anakin caught him off guard that he was defeated.

I've always thought that! Had Anakin been just a few minutes later, the Empire might not have been, and Anakin might have been saved from going further to the darkside.

Do you really think so? Maybe I should go back to RotS and watch that scene again, because I don't remember it being so obvious that Mace could've won. *shrug*
Nice Obidala banner, by the way, Petra. I'm not a fan of that particular ship, but I know they have a very strong fan base.

Yes, I think it was completely possible because the only way Mace was killed was because of Anakin cutting his lightsaber hand off and leaving him defenseless; it was only then that the Emperor was able to fully kill hiim using the Force lightning. Mace had held his own up until the point that Anakin showed up.
hehe, thanks. I became an Obidala fan a few months ago because I simply HATE Anakin and Padme's romance. It's so gushy and mushy it's sickening. *I couldn't find a smiley that threw up, lol*

Yeah. If Anakin had not have cut off his hand, it all would have been over.
I have actually been thinking about going into a fan-fiction where Anakin doesn't cut off his hand and making up an entire new storyline of what would be for episodes 4-5 and 6
But that would be a lot of writing. Naturally though, it would be quite fun.
(Never even heard of the whole obidala thing until you Petra... lol Then again I don't do much internet stuff outside this forum.)

that would be interesting. I wrote a five part fanfic on the prequel films; which are under going construction for about the third or fourth time since original drafts.
yes, the Obidala-nites are spread all over the world. we are very numerous; you would be right to fear us!

hehe I'll take your word for it.
Besides, I dont' disagree with it... After all Anakin definitely wasn't good for Padme... (after all he did kill her basicly)
But for some reason... I just can't quite picture Obiwan looking at Padme in that way... *shrugs* might just be me.

yes, well, that's mainly our argument: Anakin was too selfish, Padme was too selfless, as was Obi-Wan, so it just seems natural that those two should get together. Which, there are a few "Obidala" moments or at least hints in the films because Lucas considered a love triangle between the three.

Really... I had not heard that Lucas considered that. That certainly would have made things a bit more complicated. lol

I think it should have been done, even if it did echo something done in the original trilogy. To see Obi-Wan actually have feelings for a woman, even though he's nto supposed to, would have added to his character's depth I think.

Hm... I think i got to respectfully disagree with that.
I mean, to me it just seems that something like that would be out of character for him. His other actions and his personality don't seem to hint to any such aspects in my opinion.
Everytime he is in a "relationship" it has either been as a mentour/father figure or as a submissive learner and/or commrad.
(He even seemed to have a parently feel towards Padme to me... I think that's what makes the two of them together so.... strange in my mind. lol *shrugs* )
But oh well... that's what is good about fiction. We don't have to agree, we cna all make up our own little worlds and do things just the way we want.

well, Obi-Wan did in fact HAVE a romantic relationship witha fellow Jedi, Siri Tachi. They broke it off and agreed to not pursue the relationship further adn that caused their friendship to drift. She died a year prior to ROTS.
