Petra, aye, that was one of my very favorite parts in the movie... Edmund rocked!

I don't think we've ever discussed Sparrowbeth... although this is the Willabethers club too. ;)

but I guess if we're gonna go ahead and talk about it I'm cool with that! :teehee: I must say that I totally agree! Sparrowbeth disgusts me... never once have I EVER been a fan of it. Jack and Lizzie just didn't work for each other. And as CB said it was pretty much just all lust. :eyeroll: No where near as awesome and pure as Willabeth. :)

I also agree with CB and Millie on the KOD scene. It was really the only thing Lizzie could do to save them... :erm: and I thought it was a good touch as well. Adding more depth and humanity to Lizzie. and as Mil said by AWE it was easy to forgive her. Killing Jack and hurting Will like that really haunted her.

and thankfully Disney was the one who REALLY pushed Sparrowbeth... Ted and Terry never intended it to be quite as big as it was, I don't think. Even in the DMC commentary don't they say something about Sparrowbeth and how it was made out to be more than it really was? :yeahright: yeah...

Oh, yes I do remember something like that in the commentary. A lot of people made Sparrabeth much larger than it actually was.

I really hate it when Disney tries to change things in the story like that. It's not a good reflection on them.

I think Elizabeth did the best she could, given the situation, and in the end, I think she did the right thing by doing the wrong thing, which, as PD said, is extremely human, and a good move on T & T's part. It made her look more like a person rather than a character. It made viewers both despise and sympathise with her.

Basically, I like Jack, and I like Lizzie, but I don't like Jack & Lizzie. :P

I couldn't agree with both of you more.

I believe the reason people like Pirates is that T&T made the characters so human. I for one will always enjoy these characters the most of any characters in any movie.

Yes, they're human, and yet they live such fascinating, adventurous lives! :) Between the characters (which were casted perfectly) and the great storyline, it's little wonder there are so many fans.

Whee! Just got done watching AWE! :-D anyway, I completely agree... I think T&T wrote Elizabeth perfectly. They made her SO believable. She only did what she thought she could. I mean, she couldn't plan ahead and she was just acting on impulse. The poor girl was only doing what she thought was right for her, Will and the moment. :erm: and she pays for it later... she had to watch Norrie and Will die right in front of her and she had to see her father dead. :'(

anyway, after watching AWE maybe we can start talking about Willabeth again... hmmm....:P

Woot! :) That was awesome! Thank you for making the thread, PD! I really enjoyed that. It's even better when you know your fellow fans are watching with you.

Isn't it? :)

All right, so now that we're all in a Pirate-y mood, let's talk Willabeth!

Did we discuss Willabeth's progression through the movies? I vaguely recall discussing that, but that could just be me...

I know! Wasn't it though? Although there's no need to thank me, Millie... you and the rest kinda jogged my mind and helped me into it. it was a joint effort. but anyway, I seriously enjoy it too. Aye it is at that! :-D

yeah, that seems familiar, but what's the problem with talking about it again? :P

Excellent! :)

I thought they were kind of young in CotBP...kind of naive. By DMC, they were beginning to understand more of the world, and it kind of reflected in their relationship in the way that Elizabeth had to betray Will to save him. In AWE, Will was still angry with her for betraying her, but by the end...they had reached their peak. :)
