Yeah that is kind of how I see them too. It is interesting how when the relationship starts it is kind of like between teens, in DMC it becomes young adult, and in AWE it might almost be called an old relationship. The way Elizabeth says goodbye to Will kind of reminds me of how a married couple might deal with the death of the other at old age.

Yeah, they seemed so much more worldly by AWE.

I think that's what I hated about the character development of the two; they no longer had the "pure" love that they had had for each other in COTBP, which irritates me to no end because though there was no wedding in film 1, it was implied that they lived happily ever after, but it got messed up in films 2 and 3. :annoyed: and I don't consider will being teh Captain of the Dutchman and lizzie having to wait for him ten years to be a happy ending.

Yeah the completely happy ending definitely was removed from AWE, but I believe that AWE's ending showed Will and Elizabeth's love would endure. The ending tested them to see if they would remain faithful for ten years even though they don't get to see each other. Whereas COTBP gave them everything they wanted with no real work, AWE made them work to be able to be together again. In the end the characters emerged stronger after that ending than the ending of COTBP.

I disagree. I would say their love was still pure, just less naive. They were like children in love in the first one. By AWE, they were adults in love. I also agree with CB, they had to fight for their love instead of having it handed to them. I think it made them appreciate each other and their love more.

I couldn't agree more Miluiel. The only real impure moment in their relationship was the KoD in DMC. Every relationship has problems that have to be worked through so this just made Willabeth seem more real to me. :)

just bumping this club up a little... :erm: I can't believe it was almost pushed to the 3rd page! but anyway I guess this discussion is kinda dead... :erm: and I don't know how/if I can really come on with anything. My opinions have already been stated before. :P

but anyway, what do you guys think about the beginning of DMC? The whole interrupted marriage and everything. How do you think Lizzie must've felt and Will and all that...

I dunno, that was just a random thought. :P

ahh, willabeth. the PotC drug of choice.

the interrupted wedding broke my heart. it was so sad to see them so close to what they wanted, yet so far. stupid beckett. he should have gone and jumped from the pier and drowned.

Well I think that they were very upset with Beckett obviously. His interruption of their marriage is what started Elizabeth hating him. Of course her hate was solidified when Beckett killed her father.

Oooh careful there, Alejandrah. PD here is married to Beckett, XD

I think it would have been awful! I would have strangled him then and there! :P (Sorry, PD). They would have been angry, I have no doubt. It appeared to bug them both to an extent throughout the entire movie.

Hmmm, yeah, some really... ahem, "pro" Beckett-ism going on, no? :yeahright: meh, anyway, even though I don't agree with that, I must say that seeing it from Lizzie's perspective, yeah, then Beckett kind of was a.... yeah. ;)

Millie, yes, me and my Beckett... :P but I can understand. I'm used to all the negativity towards him.

Personally, I think Elizabeth might've been confused and saddened because Will WASN'T there on time. And I think the reason he wasn't was because Beckett arrested him and probably held him for some time. and so she had to go through all of the heartbreak thinking Will had forgotten or didn't care enough. :erm: so I guess I think the beginning of DMC doesn't really happen all at the same time. I think Beckett arriving to PR took place slightly before the time where Lizzie is kneeling there dejectedly. But that's just me. :)

Yeah I would agree that Beckett came to PR before Elizabeth was kneeling in the rain. If he had come at the same time then that means Will was having second thoughts about the marriage. That is ridiculous to think by the fact that Will is so eager to be around her during the rest of DMC. I could never see Will abandoning Elizabeth on their wedding day.

Yes, that's kind of how I interpreted it, too. I can't imagine finding out that some moron had arrested my fiancee on our wedding day...

It would. I would be a little...
:explode:
:) Sorry. I just really wanted to use that at some point, and I've never actually had a reason to before.

^haha! understandable, Millie... and at least now you've let it out... :P do you feel better?

yeah, it would be very annoying to be inturrupted like that. With the rain and the whole "invasion". ;) ... and poor Will too. :erm: and Lizzie just kneeling there THINKING Will had betrayed her. That was evil of teh Beckett, wasn't it? Bravo to him... :teehee: he has a (good) evil mind, he does. Very imaginative of how to crash a wedding. Delay the groom, hurt the bride, get your point across. :P I thought it was a brilliant way to introduce him. Probably the best wedding crasher in any movie.

but still, poor Lizzie... :( although I've never gotten why her father wouldn't come out to her and try to comfort her or get her out of the rain or something.
