"We do not have time to wonder," Arwen said grimly as she followed Turwaithion into the clearing. "We must leave quickly. Some men see elves as allies; others see them as their foes."

Turwaithion nodded, saddling Fyrn quickly. He hopped into the saddle and held out an arm for Arwen "Let us show them the meaning of haste"

Arwen took Turwaithion's outstretched hand and pulled herself up onto the saddle behind him. "By the way that man was acting, you'd have thought elves carried some dreadful disease," she commented.

Turwaithion shrugged as Fyrn surged forward "Many know of Thingol's dislike of men, and if they have only met Eol of Nan Emloth, thier dislike of us is well founded" he sighed

Anira said nothing as they made their way back into the clearing. Mounting Vehiron without a word, she scanned their surroundings one last time while awaiting the command to depart.

Deawen shook her head " I don't know" she said slowly, she was as gloomy as a marsh frog. She felt weak and helpless yet her determinded spark told her she was being silly. She saddled her horse and followed the others without another word.

Turwaithion rasied one arm for the signal for departure, glancing back at Deawen sadly. Such a riuned oppourtunity. She was lucky to be alive, after the last 3 days. He shook his head and settled into the rhythm of Fyrn's hoofbeats. Dimbar was a 2 day ride away, but if they rode through the night, then they would be at the borders by dawn.

Deawen's mare sensed her rider's gloominess and gave a playful buck to shake her out of it. She only recived a small sigh and a gentle nudge to pick up the pace. Deawen rode next to Turwaition and Arwen, one leg draped over the saddle horn.

Arwen clung onto the saddle as the horse hurtled along. She smiled over at Deawen, who's horse kept up a pace beside Turwaithion's horse. "Don't worry, Deawen," she said kindly. "Not all humans are like that. If he was the first one of your kind you have ever met, then it was unlucky he had such a disinclination to trust elves."

Deawen looked over at Arwen and listened to what she said. "That is good news, but I fear everywhere I go I will run into the same fear." she pointed out carefuly " I never knew my own kind, I am not sure I know how to be a human really" she said with a sad smile, growing up with elves was pleasant and happy she wasn't sure if humans were the same way. She had always heard stories of doom and gloom about humans this scared her in a way as her temperment was a merry one that like to play. Again she was unsure if she would fit in.

"You need not fear them," Arwen said. "It is truely said that the race of men are grave and have much time for war, and often too little time for peace. But you must not let that drive you away." She sensed something of what Deawen was feeling about humans, and continued. "In time you will see that the life of a mortal is nothing to fear. Because you yourself are mortal."

" Im not afriad to die, I fear being unhappy." She said with a slight frown. Her horse picked up it's pace slightly and Deawen let her leg slip to it's stirrup. " I am a mortal yet I don't live a mortal life." she said in an almost sing song voice. " I have lived with elves all my lfe and have been happy, I just met my own kind and have decded I like where I am in life."

Arwen smiled. "As you say," she said, "you have lived with the elves for all your life. I can see why such a life appeals to you. There is comfort in it, security and kindness." She looked ahead of her as the horse galloped onwards. "But do not let one bad meeting be your view of humans forever."

Anira rode next to the group, remaining silent for most of the way. "Arwen is right," she finally said. "In my travels I have seen many of your kin. Yes, they have their flaws, but they also possess great courage. There is much to be proud of your heritage."

Turwaithion nodded "Once we cross the mountains, we should re-supply at a Dor-Lomin village. You shall see; not all of your kin are as that one. The House of Hador Lorindol have much to be prideful of. Wait and see" he said

Deawen nodded and ran a hand over her mares neck. "If you say so" she sounded unconvinced but her wicked smile said she was trusting thier advice. After a long while of riding Deawen's shoulder started to hurt Deawen kept quiet about it but the fast pace was starting to wear on her.
