The Owen 'If You Were Gay' video is actually quite hilarious.

You mean Owen from Torchwood? I went looking for that video but couldn't find it.

Finally watched the Doctor Who episodes.

Journey's End definitely needed more Ianto.
And I also think that Mickey won't be too bad on Torchwood. Martha, yes. Mickey, no.

I admit, I'm getting sick of Martha. Still like her better than Rose, though. Mickey... I still can't picture him with Torchwood. He does an awful lot of standing around doing nothing.

And if he falls in love with Gwen as soon as he sees her like every other flippin' guy on Torchwood (except Ianto), [s]I'll set myself on fire and jump of a very tall building[/s] throw something.

That's true. But when Mickey kissed his gun, I had a brief flash of hope. Maybe...just maybe...he'll do it.

But I also agree. The Gwen love is such a weird thing to me. It's like TennantDoctor. Well, I understand Tennant, he's gorgeous, but Gwen? What the heck?

I don't know, I think Gwen is quite attractive. (Not nearly as drop-dead gorgeous as Tennant though) And now she's Torchwood's only sorce of estrogen. The guys of course will be flocking. (That won't make it any better though.)

I still can't see Mickey and Martha in Torchwood. I just dispise Mickey, and I'm a bit tired of Martha. I want new faces! I don't want recycled characters.

Oh don't get me wrong, I think Gwen is very pretty. I just don't think she's pretty enough to have every single guy dropping at her feet. It's ridiculous.

Ugh, I don't see what's matter with Mickey? He's awesome. He's definitely changed from the tin dog in Series 1 and the first part of Series 2 to someone who actually looks like he belongs in Torchwood. But he's definitely no Owen.

As for Gwen. Ugh, don't get me started there... I can't see what Jack saw in her. He should stick with Ianto.

Sometimes I have to wonder if the only reason Gwen is in Torchwood is because the Retcon didn't work and they didn't know what else to do with her.

And it always bothers me that she ends up in charge of the team while Jack is away. :annoyed2: Shouldn't it have been Owen? Actually, Tosh or Ianto would've been better too.

And the scene in the police station in Exit Wounds. Who put her in charge? And what was up with her plan to have all the policemens knock on peoples' doors and tell them they were going to be okay? That doesn't really seem like a worthwhile use of their time...

That being said, Gwen could be a lot prettier if she got her teeth fixed.

I don't know what I don't like about Mikey. I know he's changed quite a bit, but he still grates my nerve. I may change my opinion when I see the final episodes of Doctor Who, but until that happens, I just don't like him that much.

And yes, Jack should definately stick with Ianto. Best fan pairing ever.

Gwen doesn't attract that many men, does she? There was only..Jack and Rhys. Oh, and Owen, and Andy and don't forget John. So, yeah, she is a bit of a male magnet. That is annoying. Women do not have that much luck with men! Its unheard of!

I also wonder why Gwen is in charge in Jack's absence. I want to say that its because of her police training that she can organize searches and stuff and is also quite street smart. But Owen would do just a good of job street smart wise, Ianto would be a killer organizer planner person, and Tosh is brilliant enough to do just about everything, even is she's not the most physically inclined of the bunch. Though, I can't bash Gwen that much. She is a good part of the team and has saved thier butts a time or two. Though, I've heard her called "the moral center of the team." Hello? Ianto Jones has got that covered, and he looks good in a suit.

Gwen took over because of instinctual leadership from being a cop. I mean, the rest of the team were just lost planets with Jack.

And really, neither Tosh nor Ianto's personalities work for taking over realistically. Think about it, you guys, come on. There is no way either of them could have lead the team. Owen, however, I could totally see leading the team, and I don't know why he didn't take over.

So Gwen took over. I wasn't really that happy with it, but I guess it makes sense.

Agreed

Gwen was the ideal for the second-in-command role.

Well, when I say that Ianto or Tosh could have led, I guess I wasn't thinking strait. I was thinking that Ianto could be a great planner, get every body the information they needed, (Which, now that I write it out, is not really a leadership job. BLAH!) and Tosh could just be brilliant, I was thinkfing of the whole team leading in joint, each with its own subject to rule, but I cleverly forgot that then none of them would be leading. Now that I think of it, Gwen is the most well rounded for leadership, though I agree that Owen isn't far behind.

THough I jave to say that Ianto still looks good in a suit! :P

Actually you can't count Owen or John. They're both serious hardcore womanisers. You saw how easily John flirted with Ianto and Gwen and Jack. It's quite easy to imagine that John only wanted to *whistles* before leaving her. Owen is the same thing. After Katie, he just wanted to screw with anyone with something between their legs. And I suppose he was kind of fantasied with the whole "new girl in the team" kind of girl. But you also saw how easily Owen dropped their relationship after Diane.

Well, Owen did try to exert some authority twice and he ended up getting shot and unleashing Abaddon.

It's a fair point.

That's not quite accurate ;). In terms of the characters, you're right, since Jack is, I believe someone used the term "multisexual" (that is, he's willing to sleep with anything that has a pulse), and Ianto "swings both ways". With the actors, on the other hand, it's only partly correct. I think it's safe to say Gareth David-Lloyd (Ianto) is straight as can be, John Barrowman (Jack), however, is in fact gay, and is married to his partner .

About who'd best be suited to lead the team when Jack's away:
I don't think Ianto would work, either. Not so much because he doesn't have the personality for it, but because the tasks he's done for the short time he's been a Torchwood member aren't exactly training for being a leader. While he's gone out with the team in the field numerous times, he's always been a follower, not a leader.

I agree with you about Tosh, though, Tar-Dis. She just isn't/wasn't assertive enough.

Owen could have been a team leader, but at the time of the season two premiere, he wasn't exactly in the best state of mind. Someone on a Torchwood-dedicated forum on the BBC America site said Owen probably didn't get picked to be leader because (1) he was still smarting from Diane's decision to leave him and try to get back to her own time, and (2) he didn't exactly act rationally in "End of Days" while the team was trying to prevent an early doomsday. If I were the rest of the team and still had a very vivid recollection of what followed after Jack and Tosh were brought back from the 1940's, I know I wouldn't trust his judgement until he'd gotten his mental state together.

I'm one of those who just doesn't understand the hatred of Martha and/or Mickey, honestly . I like them both. While Rose will always have a special place in my heart because she made the Doctor so happy, I like her and Martha equally (also, the latter had some qualities and abilities that made her an even better companion than the former in some ways) :). As for Mickey, I always liked him. His unrequited love for Rose even made me feel sorry for him at times. It's true he didn't exactly do much in season one the brief time he was a companion, but I wouldn't squarely put the blame on him. If anything, he didn't contribute much because the Ninth Doctor couldn't stand him, and wanted him out of the way as much as possible. The Tenth Doctor, on the other hand, while he still treated him like a third wheel (at least until the battle with the Cybermen), seemed more or less okay with him being around, and was even a little unhappy to lose him when he decided to stay in "Pete's World" rather than continue traveling with them. If it does turn out that he and Martha are going to be Owen and Tosh's replacements, all I've got to say is it should be very interesting
