"I implied nothing of the sort." Goldleaf smiled calmly, she had endured worse than another woman's anger. "I only meant that our cultures are different - and though they may differ I do not mean to say either is better than the other - my apologies, if I caused offense at all." She bowed her head. "Ever have we Gondorians honoured the bond that ties our two rhealms together."

(Don't panic! It's not god-modding! It's just the fact that I (Morwen) am over at Deawen's house for the week and, seeing how her account has been temporariliy unavailable (we hope) and seeing how we've done this in the past on account of her uber-slow internet, it just is the most pragmatic solution. We will label accordingly (or maybe just combine.) As Dwight K. Schrute would say, that is all.)
(This is Morwen)
"You mustn't forget that we are an intensly proud people. And you musn't think I am at all annoyed. It is common to size up unfamiliar guests. But come, Cocea will have something ready to eat." SHe motioned for Goldleaf to follow, smiling encouragingly. She went to the stone steps and made her way to her own back kitchen door.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(Deawen)
Deawen watched the two women with amusement, unsure if she should step in and call the debate quits. Though she agreed with Morwen, she still felt a tie to her gondorian estate and customs. She had also felt foreign and strange in gondor faced with new customs, language, and atmosphere. Deawen watched the two leave before turning her attention to the village below. Someone she did not regonise at first was at one of the houses who's roof had been damaged. Deawen nearly gasped outloud seeing Eonera. "Oh this cannot be good" Deawen mumbled to herself.
Goldleaf followed Morwen to the kitchen. She was very glad that she had not caused offense, and did not want to get into an argument. "I am glad to hear I did not offend you," she said. She knew that, even if the people of Rohan were proud, Gondorian folk were prouder, and were dangerous to get into an argument with. Goldleaf had learnt that it was not wise to quarrel, unless it was about a subject very close to her heart. She wanted to get along with her hosts.
The brothers fought hard in the Battle of Pelennor Fields and managed to survive with just minor injuries.
When the battle was won, Thalabor decided to join Elessar's forces at the Battle of Morannon, and the brothers were seperated from eachother.
In the battle Thalabor got his left arm injured and would have died if it wasn't for the Ringbearers and the eagles.
He was early on a member of the soldiers that searched Mordor for orcs, but at the age of 27 he left for Minas Tirith where his bethroted lived.
At the time of the War of the ring, he lived with his wife Merilas in Lossarnach.
Before the battle of Osgiliath, he was assisting with the fortification of his homeland and crafted several Longbows for the defence.
When Furlong the Fat decided to ride to Minas Tirith, Curubor followed.
While at Minas Tirith he continued his work as a woodworker and mended broken Bows and spears.
But once the Battle of Pelennor Fields started, Curubor found himself fighting next to his brother.
Although fairly unexperienced as a warrior he made it through the battle thanks to his brothers skill and his own untiring strength.
When the battle ended, he remained in Minas Tirith to watch over the slain Lord of Lossarnach, Forlong aswell as rebuild the few tree constructions in the stone city.
Once the war ended, his family (two children) decided to move out of Lossarnach and into the untamed wilderness of Ithilien.
They built a house near Emyn Arnen where they started their new lives.
He befriended the Silvan Elves of Ithilien and learnt more about Eryn Lasgalen and the elves forestry and woodworking. )))
Will make a IC post very soon.
(Sorry for my bit of an absence... This RP is going fast!  )
*Sen nodded in greeting to Morwen, and laughed slightly at Midira's eagerness. He remained silent as the women chatted; he did not like to get himself into these sort of conversations. So, when Morwen and Goldleaf walked off towards the kitchens, he went and stood beside Deawen, putting his arm over her shoulder.*
It seems like we will be having a rather interesting Beltane this year. Guests have already arrived, and the our children are more energetic than ever. I can barely keep up with them.
*Sen paused a moment and looked out over the village. He smiled slightly, his face deep in thought.*
I never thought I would say those words, Deawen. It never seemed to be in my future. Yet here I am with you, with them. It is a life better than any other.
*Just then, Midira came running up behind him.*
Daddy, daddy! Let's go!
*Sen laughed, and picked her up, setting her on his shoulder.*
Well, you heard the little lady. I'll see you later, Deawen. I love you. *Sen said, and started down the steps to the stables...*
When they reached the kitchen, Morwen called out to Cocea, who was already at work preparing lunch. "Cocea! What is left to eat?" The cook emerged from behind a large pile of pans, surprised to be addressed in the Common Tongue. She waved to a wooden table on the left wall before disappearing back to the steamy ovens and stoves. Morwen walked to the wall and pulled cloth away from dishes, waving the kitchen girl to put it on a tray and bring it to the dining table. "We have...bread (rye and wheat), fruit tarts (blackberry or plum, I think), cheese...If you would like something else, I can always arrange it. But if you'll excuse me, I need to find where my sons have gone off to." She smiled and left with a nod, calling to the kitchen servant wait on Goldleaf. With that, she nodded and left the hall, ready to find her boys in trouble yet again.
( Yeah! I have my account back! *hugs account* I missed it sooo much!
Now I am back hopefully my internet will still love me.
Welcome Erumaro.
Goldleaf, Morwen, enough of the "Who's the most proud" battle it's getting slightly annoying.
Deawen smiled to Sen, " It was the least I could do.." she said in a soft whisper that was barely audiable. She watched him leave towards the stables and waited for him to ride out.
Once he rounded the corner of the stables with the children Deawen held her pale hand aloft and cried, " Rider!" she was addressing Sen in her most formal tones though a smile dance about her face.
(What who's the most proud battle? ^^ I was only pointing out, Gondorians are pretty fiery - look at Boromir and Denathor O_o)
Goldleaf took a little breakfast gratefully in Morwen's kitchen. She had not eaten much these past few days. On the road, her only provisions were bread and water. For the past ten years she had adapted to her old Osgiliath diet after two years in Ithilien as little more than a homeless wanderer, hunting for food and eating what she could. She was used to plain food, but she did not like it particularly.
She finished her breakfast and smiled. "Thank you, Lady Morwen," she said pleasantly and inclined her head. "I appreciate your hospitality towards me."
*Sen turned, Flarenath eager to go beneath him. He wondered at the address, but replied in suit.*
What is your wish, my lady?
*That moment sent a shivver down his spine; it spoke to him of their history together, of his love and respect for her. The children were talking amongst themselves, and there were the noises of the town getting ready for the new day, but all he could see was her; all he could hear was the silence before she spoke. Even though they had been married so long, her voice still brought a measure of peace to his soul each time he heard it.*
(Dies ist wahr.)
Morwen found her sons lying on the rocks next to the stream, drying off. "I'm glad to see you are staying out of trouble," she said with a laugh. "What have you been up to this morning?" she asked Eohfrith. He sat up and explained in vivid detail how he had been the orc and Eohrllic and Eohrmen had been Riders of the Mark and chased him as he floundered down the stream. She sat him on her lap and listened attentively, ‘ooo-ing’ and gasping at the right moments. “Well, you seem to have put up a good fight, all three of you.” Eohrllic was up on one elbow, beaming, but Eohrmen remained silent and didn’t react to his mother’s praise. She sent the younger two up to the house to finish drying off, and sat on the ground facing her oldest. “Gærsum, what’s wrong?” she said, bringing his face up to meet hers. He frowned and looked down, saying, “I was thinking, why do Deawen’s children have horses and we do not. I don’t mean Eohfrith, but Eorllic and I. It’s not fair.” Morwen was taken slightly aback-she hadn’t even thought of this. She leaned back on her hands and said as much. “You both are getting so big so fast, I sometimes forget.” She was quiet for a moment. “I will talk to your father to see what he thinks. For now, go wash up and see if you can bully your brothers into doing so, too.” She stood up and pulled him to his feet. He took more after his father than her, for he was quite tall for his age. He started back into the village, Morwen watching all the time. She felt a small sadness well up in her heart. She rolled her eyes at the emotion and called to Eohrmen, “Don’t bully too much!” He turned and waved in agreement and started to sprint up the hill. She followed more slowly and went to find her husband.
Goldleaf walked from Morwen's kitchen, looking around at the unfamiliar surroundings. She knew Gondor like the back of her hand; Minas Tirith, a complicated maze of white stone to foreigners, was so familiar and home-like to her, having visited it so many times. But this strange hill of shimmering gold buildings was completely different to any home she had ever known.
It was strange. Lady Deawen and Morwen were around her own age, yet they had families of their own and had built a life here. Goldleaf was twenty-nine and had nothing, save a small house, to show for it. No proof that she had taken part in the most important battle of the age. No token to show that she still carried the burden of love for a dead man. She sighed and lifted her head up to the sky, a few strands of her golden hair flickering.
Deawen walked down the steps to the packed ground below. Her walk even and measured as she approached her husband. She smiled softly as his words, she couldn't help that girlish impulse to giggle.
She reached into her long sleeve and pulled out a red sheer cloth. the tied it around her husbands arm as a token of her devotion to him lord and love.
" Have fun. " she whispered up to him and blew him a kiss.
She glanced at her children, pride swelled up inside her each one rode a horse matching their skill and size. She suddenly longed to go on the hunt with them but duties for the feast held her back . She stepped out of the way and let them thunder past.
Goldleaf looked out onto the fields, seeing several horses shoot off. She wandered along the wall, admiring the view. She wondered what this beltane festivity would be like. It did sound different from anything she had ever heard of. Still, her hosts had spoken of it with high regard.
She supposed that the owners of this grand domain were second only to royalty here in Rohan. The equivalent of the Steward of Gondor, perhaps? She trailed her hand along the wall as she walked along, thinking.
Morwen found Eohric in the stables talking to a messenger from Edoras. As she walked over, she heard him finish with, "...the herd of thirty war horses. Hail, Eomer King!" Eohric saluted as well, and the messanger left. "What was that?" Morwen asked. He frowned and answered, "A messenger from Edoras. They are calling up an additional 180 of the king's guard and they need 30 horses from the herds of each part of Rohan. I don't understand, but I need to focus on picking out the right horses." Morwen took the opportunity: "Lufu, while you're dealing with the horses...Eohrmen asked for a full horse." She said this with great solemnity. Eohric was confused: "He and Eohrllic are at the age, perhaps older for such tall boys. I'm surprised he didn't ask earlier, and for that, that we didn't give him one sooner." Morwen winced, putting her hand to her forehead. "I guess there is a reason for it, such is the way with you," said Eohric tenderly, leading her to a bench and sitting her. He waited for her to speak. "I left home when I was 16 years old, no explanation, no looking back. My father died, and I wasn't there. I abandoned what family I had. I am afraid that the same will happen," she said miserably. Eohric looked at her and said fiercely, "That would never happen. Times are different. He will not make the same mistakes as his mother." Morwen looked up into his eyes and nodded. "I suppose you're right. Pick out a good horse for Eohrmen and Eohrllic." She smiled up at him, and he left. She pulled herself together and went to check on how the washing up was going.
A great carriage moved slowly towards the bustling village, carrying the family of Curubor the Forester. The tall muscular man looked up towards the village ahead and saw the villager moving in and out of the gate.
Alaglín his son came to sit by his side with his legs dangling from the carriage.
"Good morning little one. Had a nice sleep?" Curubor said and patted him on the chin."
Young Alaglín nodded at his father and said:
"Yes father."
As the carriage moved nearer the village a group rode out of the gate.
Curubor smiled when he saw the young children riding out with what appeared to be their father.
Alaglín stared at the children riding out. "Why didn't I get a horse for my birthday?"
Because we can't afford more than one horse in our household. If I bought you a horse you'd need to live on bark and resin for the following month.
"Blegh! I hate bark." Alaglín frowned and returned to the covered sleeping area of the carriage where his mother was preparing some fruit and vegetables for the boy.
Curubor laughed and looked ahead towards the gate.
Thalabor looked as his brothers carriage travelled towards its destination.
Because of the package the carriage carried, Thalabor had decided to watch the roads to scout for possible brigands (robbers) in the area.
When he finished the scouting he looked for an enclosed place to change into formal clothes. He put on his chain mail shirt and covered it with his white shirt.
After putting his belt back on he swinged his steelbow back on his back and mounted Lagordal again.
"Hurry Lagordal, we should not be letting my brother wait for our arrival."
The horse stormed swiftly on the open grass fields of Westfold and was soon starting to close in on Curubor's carriage.
Curubor looked backwards as he heard the black stallion close in on the carriage.
"Well met my brother!"
Thalabor nodded in response.
"You have put on your formal wear I see?"
"Yes, I'm representing the Steward and his spouse Lady Eowyn on this journey, and ranger clothing isn't well suited for great halls."
The taller brother smiled and pointed to his own clothing,
"I changed my clothing as well, as you might have noticed. They're very comfortable. You should thank Gollineth for such great craftsmanship."
Thalabor chuckled and said: "Save the courteousness for our hosts, brother"
The gate was now just ahead. Thalabor dismounted the horse and walked up to the guards.
Westu hall! I'm here to speak with Lord Sen Starfire and Lady Deawen of the great hall of Westfold.
The guard gave a slight bow towards the White Company ranger and said:
"You just missed the Lord, he went outside with his children. But the Lady can be found up ahead."
"Le hannon."
Thalabor looked towards his brother and called out. "We can get inside the gate now."
As the horses and their masters started to move through the gate, Thalabor handed the reins of Lagordal to Curubor and said. "Find a stable place for Lagordal and Belldal. I'll try to find the Lady of the Hall."
