"Estel will not let them execute a woman," she muttered to the dwarf.

"How do you know for certain? Things change, lassie. Times aren't safe, you know. He could very well have reworked the policies to allow such," Grair replied reasonably.

"If he had, do you really think I would be here and not in prison?" She laughed and gave a lop sided grin.

"True," the copper haired dwarf smiled and shrugged, tilting his head to the side in a gesture of consent. "Or it could just be that the wizard saved your hide...again."

"I can save my own hide, and I am quite sure that my reasoning is sounder than yours," she retorted, childishly sticking out her tongue.

"So you always say, but we both know the consequences of your reasoning," he laughed.

"Yes, I suppose we do. Now, quiet yourself Master Dwarf, I would very much enjoy watching the rest of the show," she said dully.

"If it turns into a blood bath, I'm going after a responsible authority," Grair rejoined with a huff, crossing his arms over his chest.

"Very well, do as you please Sir Responsibility," the half-elf sneered and watched as a girl rounded her horse in front of the guards. "They will not get her out like that. It would be easier to appeal for her freedom, like we did with Tremain....or maybe it was Fides."

He rolled his eyes, "Yes, well they do not have age on their side like you, oh great ne'er do well. I doubt that they have tried to exploit every hole in the system of justice."

She smiled, "No need to be jealous of my wits."

The dwarf laughed and rolled his eyes once more, giving the woman a friendly punch that caused her to wince and rub her shoulder.

Elod glanced at the woman who had manuevered her horse in front of the group. "Nothing of your business, Daewen." he said as he sighed. "Now, if you would kindly let us go on with our business, like a good citizen." he finished as he walked towards her. His hands nearing his sword. He wasn't in the mood to be delayed.

Frela's interest wained as the soldiers continued to taunt and threaten Lesao. That is, until she noticed the figure on horseback. It went straight past her before she noticed it, and when she heard the voice, her blood froze and burned simultaneously. It was Deawen, of all entities, creatures, humans, elves, and dwarves. She mastered herself, forcing a calmness over her and keeping herself from popping a single knuckle. She let herself observe more of the scene, keeping quiet.

“ Don’t good citizen me Elod.” Deawen said with her own sarcastic sigh. She watched him calmly from her saddle, “ You touch that Sword Elod and you will have raised arms again the King’s vassal, a crime which I remind you is punishable by death.” Deawen said as if it was trivial. “ So..” she continued “ as a gesture of good will I will continue on my way.” she said, casually guiding her horse past the group at a slow trot.
Deawen stopped in front of a stall to check her saddle bags for her other cloak, when she couldn’t find it she swore an oath that would make a soldier blush. The cloak she wore, was only fit for status purposes and not for protection. She swore a lesser oath as her horse rubbed it’s forehead on her shoulder, “ I know you want to go home you barn sour mule” she laughed and scratched the mare’s head idly.

Marilin Crebainfinnel led her weary horse through the city. She had been out looking for Legolas all day and hadn't found the elusive elf prince anywhere. Some say that elves are incapable of swearing, but had anyone been within hearing distance of Mari, they would have been shocked by the words issuing from her mouth.

"Stupid brat. His father sends me to find him and what do I hear? That the (insert a string of foul language here) kid is off galavanting around the countryside with a (another explitive) dwarf of all people! When I find him I'm going to tan his warg-bitten hide!"

A scuffle in the distance reached her elven ears. "No rest tonight, I see." She sighed, and mounting her horse rode in the direction of the noise. As she reached it she slid off of her mount and ran on silent elven feet towards the noise.

Elod shook his head as Deawen left. He then turned back to Lesao. "On your way, prisoner." he said. Lesao hesitated for a moment, then kept walking up the streets. She paused when she saw a flash of movement. She glanced casually in the direction, but didn't see anything. Why would an elf be stealthily going through the city?

The two companions looked at eachother for a moment and started forward.

"Following?" Questioned the dwarf.

"Aye, why not?" Replied the woman, striding behind Elod's group, once again assured of no trouble, especially after she castrated one man for harassing her.

She sighed and kicked her leg out to the side, it was becoming painful due to standing for so long. Maethoriel removed her ever present cane from her belt of weapons and used it to help propel her down the road. She followed close to her dwarvish companion.

"The proceedings should be of interest," she pointed out, trying to clear the quiet between them.

"Should be, unless they find the poor child guilty," he responded in a sullen tone, his eyes dropping.

"True, but then I might find some way to make it otherwise..." her sentence drifted off as her eyes sparked with ideas for escape.

"And then you'd spend another hundred years away from this place in hiding," he bit back.

She shrugged the worry away, the consequences would be dealt with after the actual problem had been resolved. Grair watched his friend, a mixture of amusement and worry. He didn't maintain complete confidence in her.

Elod glared at Lesao. She rolled her eyes and kept on walking. The rest of walk to the prison was uneventful except a drunk man who had, suspiciously, known Elod. Elod looked embarrassed to be exposed in front of his prisoner. Lesao just shook her head and continued walking. And here they were, standng in front of the prison. Lesao paused to look around. Elod did too, and after a moment he asked, "Enjoying the view?" Lesao glanced at him, then entered the dark, cold prison.

The creak of the large wooden door woke Durion. He groaned, angry to be woken. Despite being cooped up in a cell with nothing to do, Durion slept very poorly. He head the sound of shuffling feet, and then a voice that Durion knew spoke. "Enjoying the view?" Elod asked to his prisoner. Durion couldn't see the man, but his words echoed off the stone walls.

"Lovely." Durion growled to himself. The last thing he wanted to do was meet Elod again.

Elod led Lesao to a cell no different from the others. He unlocked the door with a key that he took from his pocket. He gave her no room to look around before he shoved her into the cell. She barely caught her balance but ran into her cellmate on the way. She quickly backed away. "Sorry." she apologized. Great, she thought, nice entry.

((I'm guessing I'm the cell mate))

Durion was surpised when a young woman was shoved into his cell. Elod only gave him a quick glare. She stumbled into him, but before Durion could help her she regained her balance. She muttered an apology. "Do not worry about it." Durion replied. "I see you've been brought in by the rat catcher himself." He glared at Elod. "Welcome to my humble abode."

((Yep.))

"Yeah..." Lesao said as she watched Elod close the door. "Thanks." she said when he welcomed her. "I'm Lesao." she said, offering her hand. "Have you been here long?" she asked. She might as well use up the time talking, at least until she found a way to escape. But til then...

"My name's Durion." He said bruskly, taking her hand and shaking it. "Have I been here long?" He laughed feebly. "It sure feels like it, but I don't know how long I've spent in this dungeon. Long enough to loose track, that's for sure."

Frela followed Deawen to the stable where she would put her horse. This was difficult due to the acute senses of the combined horse and rider. She kept to the shadows, trying not to follow the direct course that Deawen took. She stood for a moment in a shadowy doorway, deciding that the house was empty for the night. She knelt and used her stiletto dagger to pick the lock and slipped inside. She had chosen well. The floor was of red granite, and there was no torch or candle light anywhere. She saw the stairs and ran quickly up. She peaked out the window and saw Deawen, still riding. She looked around the room, a bedroom. She went to the chest at the foot of the bed and pulled the screw out of each henge and lifted off the lid. She lifted out the linens and silks gently and found an heirloom sword and a bag of gold coins. She took the coins, replaced the linens, and replaced the lid. She moved to one of the rugs covering the wall opposite the bed, moving it aside. No secret compartment. The last place she looked was in an ornamental vase by the door out to the balcony-inside was another very expensive dagger. As she placed it inside the hidden pocket of her leather satchel, she laughed at the stupidity of the common merchant and his family. No creativity. She went to the balcony, listening to the clip clop of the solitary horse and rider through the dark streets. Frela detached a strap from her waist, slung it around a column, slid down, and jogged after Deawen.

Lesao smiled wearily. She nodded slowly. "I know what it feels like." she said. Her smile turned cold. "They've never been able to keep me for long after my long visit, though." She shook her head again, "I'm too good at running away."
