I thought graphics referred to stuff you were going to do throughout the summer. *confused*

Hm, I see the issue that's going on... I just copied it from last year's list of activities. I think Contests is more of people making banners and voting, whereas the Graphics could refer to making banners for others, etc. So Lothy and Panneth, if you guys would like to help out with something else as well, feel free. I'm sure we'll get it all worked out.
And smeag, I'm loving the banners you made. I'll add them to the main post.
Neri - Hey there! Thanks for coming over. Here's a list of stuff that we need volunteers to help run - feel free to co-operate some of them with another member if you'd like.

Wow, this looks like a lot of fun
I know who I'll be rooting for! Gondor/Men! The hubbie (Boromir ) wouldn't forgive me if I didn't
I don't know if I'd be any good at volunteering - might be too busy or not energetic enough for the commitment, depending on work and health. But anyhoo, this looks like it's going to turn out really fantastic! Kudos ^_^

I can help you out, since I was the one that organized RotR last year. Graphics mainly referred to the Graphics Cookoff that Aliana and I are going to repeat this year. There was a little bit of advertising banners, but that wasn't the main thing. Then, the contests are the contests. So, unless both of them want to think of another big graphic thing to do this year, I think it might be that they want to have contests? But, I shall let them decide.

Yes, it is different, but it was advertised within RotR, orginally.

I wouldn't mind volunteering, just as long as someone explains to me just exactly what to do. I'll be around most of the summer, I think.
By the way, I don't think we need to watch the commentaries this year. I mean, we could, if we wanted to of course, but it was more in accordance with last year's theme. Perhaps there's something else we could watch/read this year?

I'm cool with sticking to the Graphics Cookoff and planning/running that, since Graphics/Contests is pretty much all I do around here anyways. =P Just point me wherever I'm needed.

I am saying the same thing, just take me where I am needed... you can give up my contests, if you wish to. I am, hopefully, going to have a busy summer.

No problem-o! Since I'm such a clueless n00b in this respect, I've got plenty of questions. I missed most of this stuff last year, so I'm trying to learn as much as I can, as fast as I can. What do the Balls, Watching the Commentaries, and the Scavenger Hunt entail? Those are the three I'm looking at currently.

Doing the Balls
This involves setting up the rooms and activities for a week in the summer. The two of them are the Hobbit Ball and the Elvish ball. For both, there are pre-threads for who you are going with, what you are wearing, etc. Then, there may be a contest or two before and/or after based around the balls. It is usually fun to toss in an event or so, but many people just rp out the whole thing.
Watching the Movies
As Taur said, this is where you set up a date, place, and exact time for everyone to watch the movies.. back to back. It usually takes place in the chat room of AU, and there is a countdown for people to start the movies and talk together about them. You could also have two showings, one for the extended and the other for the theatrical.
The Scavenger Hunt
This is probably the most difficult to explain, but, from what I remember, the scavenger hunt took place over the entire summer and people had to search through the LotR movies and books to find answers. Each week, there was a different clue, and the people that turned in the correct answer got points. Person with the most points at the end of summer won.
Hope this helps. Just tell me if you need more explain on anything.
