My obsession spiked way up last summer when I read the Silmarillion, but most of the time I'm just comfortably obsessed: I love it, I know I will always love it, and I think about it sometimes, but not so much that it takes over.
My friends might get half-jokingly annoyed with me when I show off my superior knowledge of all things Tolkien, but I just take it as part of their general joking glares at me for being smart.

I always get a little obsessed when something new comes out, like the release of, The Children of Hurin.
As soon as I started reading the book, I calmed down and I took it alot more easy, but 1-2 months before, I was a little hyper!
..admittedly

other than that, no :annoyed:
..you can´t ever get too obessed with LotR :)

Aha I read The Children of Húrin straightaway, because my sister borrowed it from her school library for me. Later on, my best friend bought it for me for Christmas and I nearly murdered her with excitement. I'm also doing the CoH for my current few-month-long novel study for English class... I'll be hanging on to it 'till April :P

Being obsessed seems to pull more of it towards you though, if you know what I mean... for example today in art class, my friend randomly found the One Ring on the floor and just brandished it before my eyes... of course she didn't care to keep it so she gave it to me. What's funny though is that the Ring fit my index finger perfectly... it wasn't too tight nor was it too loose, it just fit perfectly. It was totally like the real One Ring, because of its being randomly found and picked up, and its fitting the owner 100% :teehee: the only difference is that my friend didn't want it and I didn't turn invisible :P Of course, my friends played around with me for a while and we all pretended like I couldn't be seen by them.

hehe that's so cool :)
You're so lucky that you can study CoH in your English class. I wish we studied such great books in English or German..
I also ordered CoH as quickly as possible (I couldn't find it in any store around at the time it came out) and I read it as soon as I got it :D

Oh come onnnn you can't be too obsessed. Well, you could, but it would take a lot to come to that point.

My mom would say I'm too obsessed, but I know I'm nowhere near it.

LOL in my physiology class a couple of weeks ago, we were doing a lab about senses, and one of the things we had to do was look at one of those eye charts from a distance away w/o glasses. (My sight sucks, btw). A few days later, I was thinking, people who have better than 20/20 sight are freaks. Then I thought, I know who has like 20/5 sight (or something like it):

Elves.

XD

hehe I love such random connections to LotR. I have that all the time that something completely unlike LotR at first sight reminds me of some little detail in the books/movies. I guess that's just a symptome of obsession ^^
