*stays silent on why the Murtagh banners are appearing*
I don't think I want to go to Eragon with my sister... though it would be fun to go on opening day, just because.

Some people have them cause he's pretty. I have them because Murtagh is just cool. I mean, he can swordfight, he stands up for himself, he is a dragon rider, and he did all this even though he had a terrible childhood. He's just awesome!

 It was pretty funny though.
I personally have no plans for Eragon banners. I still havent gotten an AVA one made. *Sighs*

I concur- Murtagh was always one of my favorite characters, too. Murtagh and Roran.
(I ought to add, Arwen, I bow to your superior experience, as I've only read one half of a Robert Jordan book)

Kudos to Kitoky for the fabulous signature set, and art credit to engelszorn.

I like Murtagh because he is such a complex character. Basically I like Brom, Murtagh, and Oromis. Those guys were really awesome!!! Aijihad was pretty cool, too.

Oh yeah, Oromis is so cool. I really hope that they don't screw him up if/when they make Eldest.

Altariel Frodo wrote: Arwen the webmaster wrote: *is a ninny* yaaaay Ok, as I've said, I do like the Inheritance books. A lot. I cannot repeat that enough. I like them, I like them, I like them. I admire CP for writing Eragon at the ripe old age of 15 - I know I couldn't have done it at that age, and still couldn't. I think a lot of his plot lines are original, too. However, take a look at the list of "similar" names between LotR and Inheritance. There is NO way CP found all of those names by simply referring to all the same texts Tolkien drew on. In the same interview where CP didn't answer the Tolkien question, he said that what he does with what inspires him is he takes what he likes, tosses the rest, and mixes it all together. Now if he were just taking a few subtle elements, that would be fine; I think all authors do that, at least subconsciously. But he's NOT taking subtle things. A lot of the names in particularl are "Oh, that sounds like a cool name, I'll add/change a letter here and make it mine!" And even though I agree that it's a smart practical move for him not to gush over how much Tolkien inspired him, I think if he didn't want people to yell at him for some overt similarities, he shouldn't have borrowed that much material in the first place. YES! I agree 100%! *claps* Except that I personally believe I could write that well. Before you all assume I have a hopeless ego (me? have an ego?... that sounds so ridiculous it's not even funny) let me explain. I've been writing since I was 6 and been making up stories since I was like 3. I've won several writing competitions against other teenagers, and a lot of people seem to think that I'm gifted in that area. I personally don't believe them much... but I do think I can write at least as well as CP. Anyway... *coughs* Does anyone know if Eragon's rated yet? Last time I checked, I couldn't figure out what it's rated.
^^Right...the books are great, but they are quite similar to Tolkein.
Hey, if I was homeschooled, I think I could write a pretty good novel to. But it would be hard to seperate my love of LotR from it. As someone said before, Tolkein is the Father of Fantasy. Just about everything is going to remind us of it.

Pretty much all fantasy is going to be influenced by him. That I can't deny. Actually, I'm kind of proud of that. People can bash LotR, and I can say to myself "if it was so bad, why does everyone copy it?"
OK, anyway...

Just out of curiousity....is Saphira even going to talk/communicate w/ Eragon in the movie? There's not credit for her anywhere.

I think Rachel Weisz is going to do the voice for her. I'm not sure though.
