About the pic: Yeah, I think you're probably right. It's a nice pic, Arwen looks pretty when she smiles. (pity she doesn't do it more often...lol)

You're welcome! This is what happens when you have Tolkien-crazy friends and a lot of time on your hands. :-D I'm actually gonna be watching all 3 movies with a friend of mine today, so if you end up watching them that'd be awfully ironic!
Yeah...I don't know if I'm just really good at reading facial expressions or if Liv and Viggo meant to do that, but I can honestly see exactly what they're saying to each other even though they're not talking.

The first script...well, I think that Liv could've pulled it off as warrior princess, but it would've seemed weird. Probably the "If you want him, come and claim him" line was the most she could've done without seeming out of character.

I agree with you that it is a pity that Arwen doesn't smile that often in the movies. I think PJ made her role even sadder than Tolkien did. At least he put more emphasis on her suffering and the problems/weight of her choice while Tolkien mostly only hinted at it...

I haven't found the time to watch all three movies yesterday, but I plan to do that over the weekend. However, I did watch the RotK scene yesterday and I must admit that this was indeed mind-melding in action. Liv and Viggo really did a perfect job while expressing their feelings without any words. I really LOVE that scene. :)

And I also agree with you on the first script. It also reminded me a bit of the Flight to the Ford scene. I've read in an interview that Liv had been pretty unhappy about her warrior princess role at that time and that she was really relieved when PJ decide to change her role. Besides, what would PJ have done with her after the Battle of Helm's Deep? I think all the Elves that fought there disappeared (or died) in the end and it would have been a bit strange if Arwen would be the only one who survived or stayed. And only bringing Aragorn the sword and then returning to Rivendell would have been strange as well...

It's Aragorn and Arwen's wedding anniversary!!! :)

No, really. They were married on Mid-year's Day, according to Tolkien, and I did some checking and asking around and found out that in our time Mid-year's Day is equal to June 22nd. So, happy anniversary to them! :) (I celebrated by watching all the A/A scenes...it was nice. :-D )

Edit: Viggo and Liv in the reunion scene (ROTK) are scary-good with their facial expressions...I swear they're communicating telepathically. Mind-melding in action! :-D

Wait... I thought June 1st was their wedding anniversary!

No...I don't think so...that's not what I heard anyway. Where'd you hear that?

Rose: Yeah, but her bittersweet role one of the reasons I like her so much, actually. She was strong in an entirely different way then Aragorn or Eowyn, or any of the warriors.

Have fun watching! Yeah, it definitely was. Though I noticed that the last line Arwen says in the whole trilogy is "I wish I could've seen him...one last time." And I think that might only be in the EEs but I don't know for sure...

Exactly! I thought it was weird enough that all the Lothlorien Elves died at Helm's Deep, but if Arwen had been the only one to survive that would've been a thousand times more weird. Probably if she'd gone all that way to give him the sword, she would have stayed by his side, so I see what you mean there too.

I agree with you concerning Arwen's role again. ;) She represents the strength of love in a way and is probably one of the strongest character of the whole trilogy (not physically, of course ;) )...

Yeah, you're right about Arwen's last line. I've never really thought about that, but it's true.*is surprised* She doesn't say a word during the coronation...Well, I haven't seen the EEs, but this line is definitely part of the "normal" version. ;) (Yay, only two more days until I'll see all movies again ;))

If you consider Legolas' and Gimli's stubborness, she would have stayed with Aragorn. I think he would have tried to send her home again, but she wouldn't have done that. She could have stayed with all the women at Edoras when Aragorn and Theoden and all the soldiers went to Gondor, but it wouldn't have been a nice time for her as well then...

And concerning Arwen's and Aragorn's anniversary: I'm pretty sure that they say in the "Tale of Arwen & Aragorn" that the two were married at Mid-Summer's day and in the Scandinavian countries they celebrated that day around the 21/22 of June. But I'm going to check that as well this evening....;)

Yeah, I really hate it when people call Arwen a wimp or something like that. (Actually, a (male) friend of mine did call her a wimp a while ago...and that was right after we discussed which character(s) in LOTR we'd be, and I said I thought I might be Arwen. Fortunately he didn't mean it in that way...)

Ah, okay, I wasn't sure. I actually think the coronation scene was perfect as it was, with no words between the two, because they convey so much with their expressions and body language that speech wasn't really necessary. That sounds corny.

No, not really a nice time at all. I can see her refusing to go home though. "Daddy will just make me go to Valinor, and I won't leave you!" :P Slightly more dignified, of course, but you know what I mean. ;)

Oh really? Cool. Thanks for checking that. :)

The coronation scene was pretty good, but I thought it went to fast. I wish they would have spent a little more time on Aragorn and Arwen.

@Ánië: I agree with you that Arwen shouldn't be called a wimp. Altought she doesn't fight with a sword, she has to fight enormous inner struggles. And I guess that's not really much easier than fighting in a battle.
Yes, I know what you mean with Arwen here. I guess it would have come to something like that in the end.

Hmm, well I think the coronation scene itself is perfect as it is. I really like its "mind- melding" character. However, I would have added some scenes of the actual wedding later, maybe after the "You bow before no one!".
Did Eowyn's and Faramir's wedding actually take place on the same day?

And I'm really sorry that I don't post that much right now, but AU is really troubling me a lot. :( Either the site doesn't open at all, or it displays only error messages, or my posts don't appear at all. I hope it'll soon be fixed again...

I really wish they had done the wedding! But oh well. There's always fanfiction. :-D And I think Eowyn and Faramir were engaged (or whatever they call it) on the day A&A were married, but I don't think E&F were married until a good time later.

Aww, it's okay! I'm sorry about that, I hope it starts working for you soon.

Yes, you're right. Fan fiction is a pretty nice way of "creating" the missing parts of the movie. :)
And yes, that with Eowyn and Faramir would be logical. They must have met each other only shortly before the A/A wedding and I guess it would have been a bit early for the marriage. ;)

Sorry for my long absence again. AU now works for me again (Arwen the webbie as fixed the errors :)), but now my internet makes some troubles. Our provider changed something about the speed of our internet and made some big mistakes. I have been completely with any internet connection for almost 2 days. Now it works again, but today there will the last final changes conducted by our provider. If I still have internet this evening, it'll all be okay again, but if not, I might be without any internet for a few more days again. *sighs*

And something I've just stumbled across while writing on a fan fic poem.
I searched for Eärendil in Wikipedia and I came acroos this article:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E%C3%A4rendil
Scroll down till the bottom of the page and have a look at the table. Well, we had the discussion about the Arwen's and Aragorn's children some time ago and about the fact whether they would have to choose between a mortal and immortal life. According to this table Eldarion would be a half-elf as well, so me would have to face the same decision like his mother as well one day, or?

Yeah, that probably wouldn't work so well. "Hey, we just met, but do you want to marry me?" ;) I don't think Eowyn would agree, even if it was Faramir.

Well, I'm glad you can get on again. I hope your internet works, or it gets fixed soon. :)

Oh really? That's interesting...hm, I don't really know. If that was the case (he was a Peredhil or Half-elven) he probably would have had to face the same choice. Pity we don't know for sure. Good research, Rose!

Yep, I agree with you on the Eowyn/ Faramir question. ;) That wouldn't just be Eowyn.

Well, my internet finally works again perfectly and after I've finished the work on my websites now, I'll definitely be here more often again. :)

In the meantime I've thought again about Eldarion being a Half-Elf. If he were one, it would somehow be strange to have an immortal King of Gondor one day, when he would choose to become immortal. I guess that the "normal" Gondorians would somehow be afraid of their ruler then.
Actually I didn't know that Aragorn was a Half-Elf as well (but according to the table in the Wikipedia article he is one). But as he's not immortal as well, perhaps Eldarion would only have inherited the long life of his father, but not the fate of his mother. ;) But I'm not sure. It's really a pit that we don't know for sure. ;)
